Also, I think the actual record is 7 missions. Guy claimed he couldn't find any suitable targets each time he flew out. Kept re-fueling and flying back out. He pretty much had to since those pilots were welded into their cockpits. On his last return, his commanding officer had him cut out of his plane.... And then he was immediately shot for cowardice.
