You can use it in pairs if you have a 2x18650 sized body to accommodate both batteries. There's no functional reason why you couldn't use two of those batteries.
Not sure about that; I believe that attempting to use two of those particular IMR's in series will not work due to a connectivity issue with the design.

Kestrel is correct. These particular AW cells don't have the protrusions at the negative terminal to allow them to interface with the positive terminal of another one. They work fine by themselves.

You may be able to either modify one of the cells (solder) or use a magnet that's been modified to eliminate a short circuit if it contacts a body wall, to allow them to work in pairs.

This is what I found.

AW IMR 18650/3000mAh are not designed to be used in pairs/series

Thanks for the help everyone!

To confirm: the v5 will work with one or two cells. The 3000 IMR is not setup for series/pair use. Maybe I can convince AW to go dots on the next run. Get protected cells that much closer to obsolescence.

I don't know why, but it is a lot of fun to run on afterburning with bounce at 100. It is like a photon cannon :xyxgun:

Hi Dan, I just got my light-its really cool! I went to program it after logging in & cannot set battery protection, bounce, etc as
before on my other lights. Also, before I could download the video but that no longer works after clicking download option.

Re: v5 Triple BOSS Flashlight (Bright Output Small Size)

Are there any plans for a single cell driver?

If not, would a regular FET driver fit if someone were to mod it ;) ?

Trying to understand which step is breaking. You can't select bounce etc or once a configuration is ready, you can't load a program with them?

There are two ways to get the video option: 1) after pressing the orange Program button, press the Download as Video button on the left. 2) even if you push the orange program button on the right, wait 2 cycles for the yellow bulb icon to appear above the green square, then click it!

I've managed to get it working. Thanks! Question battery protection-is there a description of how it works as you near depletion? I don't think I've used
this feature before but I like the idea.

Neither of those download methods seems to work with iPad Mini.
Ahhh, thats not a server problem but a browser problem. iOS Safari doesn't allow saving of videos. Please install another browser and try again. This one, for example, allows you to save videos right from the screen for playback and even loading them into your camera roll, without a PC:

Have a look at the two green options:

luxrc.png

The square on the right (stretch) starts to drop output when voltage drops to 3.2v. This gives you a long declining output during the last 0.4v before protection kicks in...

The square on the left (protection) drops output completely at 2.8v.

We ship and recommend both options be on at all times, except for special applications like CR123.

Understood now, I like that feature! I appreciate these replies-it certainly helps getting the most of this neat light.
