Honestly this light should be around $200 so we can all have one. It's so nice but the price is a huge limiting factor.

Mine is due to arrive tomorrow.
Can't wait.
My wife wanted to waste our money on stuff like house payments and food but after a considerable amount of begging she authorized the funds for me to get one.

I sent you my personal light. I selected it for myself at first LOL. I love the creamy tint and just everything about that sample.

Can't wait until I get more impression. Love this thing.

Hi Vinh, Thanks for sending me such a great light! At first I was feeling really guilty you sent me your handpicked light :(. But It's such a cool and useful light, I'm enjoying it too much to feel guilty anymore . We have very limited space outside here at home so I'm not able to push this light. But Friday we are going camping and there will be no electricity and no lights around, and I doubt that anyone else will be anywhere around. This means I can wring this light out in the open and in the woods. I'm also bringing my T6vn, several headlights I always take camping, and my small edc light. We're also bringing the dog pack along, so I'll actually need a really good light for walking the pack off leash at night. The dogs will be sleeping in the pickup bed (truck cap) so won't be under foot at night. That's important because we currently have a St Bernard (my avatar), an English Mastiff, a Newfoundland, and a Newfie/St mix. And we are also taking care of my daughter's (in Germany with US Army) really old St Bernard. The light is important because when I walk these guys off leash after dark, It is critical that I see any deer or other animals before they do, so I can use the right "voice" to alert the dogs to just look at and not run after any fleeing animal. I also need it to keep better track of my daughter's old dog who is almost completely deaf and blind now and tends to wander off as she doesn't know where we all are much of the time. Anyhow, More X7vn thoughts after the weekend.

Does it still need button tops after upgrade? What are the best batteries for it to have some run time.

Vinh stated that he did his testing with VTC6, which is a flat top. I would say that this is the best battery for the balance of performance/ run time as it takes highest drain but still has very good capacity (3000mah).

Others may be able to comment on whether the 30Q (3000mah) , or MJ1 and GAs are suitable 3500mah cells that would work well in this light?

Knowing the TN36UTvn battery draw is around 12 amps, my best suggestion would be VTC5, VTC6 or the 30q as mentioned. You will want a battery capable of over 10 amps, so the GA and MJ1 might work but performance will suffer.

In the factory model, the flat top NCR18650GA 3500mAh's won't run. I don't have my 30Q's right now to test with, but button tops do work. Olight says protected only. So, I figured it was a length issue in the factory, but hoped the VN upgrade would allow the flat tops.

Won't work with flat top batteries. I tried mine with VTC6(with magnet on +) and LG MJ1 button top. They both work but at least to my eyes the MJ1 isn't as bright, can't put on max output too long anyways so no big deal. It gets really hot...really quick!

Yeah, I think I tested something like a thousand less lumens with MJ1 vs 30Q and maybe even wider margine at 1 minute. I think the 30Q, VTC6, HG2 or HE2, HE4 type batteries are better in this light than the Mj1 etc. @ 3,500MAh. Although those will work too.

Cool. U know mtnelectronics sell sony vtc 6 in unprotected button top right, as well as 30q in button top unprotected.
