Re: RC40vn670 - RC40vn40 - X65vn2870 - TK75vn1670

XHP70 isn't famous for top notch throw, but with 28 of them there has to be some decent throw, even if it is a mule!

Changing to Carclo / XPL would decrease the number of emitters from (28x4) to 28. Each XHP70 is a group of 4 emitters. Each XHP70 is rated at 4022 lumens, whereas each XPL HI is rated at 1095 lumens by Cree.

My guess, it's only that, is the throw would be similar, but with about 1/4 of total Lumen.

Oh no, I didn't mean a combination of leds, I meant an R60vn28XPL :naughty:

AND an R60vn2870

Larry is a power junkie, can't get enough! Love it

larry. I started a "show us your v54" collection picture thread. I think we would all love to see a pic of "Larrys Lineup"!

I think he meants x65vn.

You're right NL, just got too excited there. I was just trying to correct Vinh's impression that I was suggesting some combination of leds when vinh suggested XPL HI instead of XHP70 when I asked about Carlco lenses on one. I think Vinh thought I was saying mix XHP70s with Carlco focused XPLs. I was just suggesting that I get a second light with 28 XPLs and Carlco lenses in ADDITION to the 28 XHP70 mule. God only knows where I got R60! I just got too excited thinking about that other light. I'm thinking that the lenses may really not add that much in this case though, so maybe it was just a bad idea. At the same time, just think what that many Carlco lenses on the front of a flashlight would look like--pretty intimidating.

I suppose I may have to do it, although if I do I'll NEVER get all of the flashlights and holsters back together properly. I'll probably give it up at some point. Also, finding them all (I have them all over the house) is not going to be a five minute job. I'll definitely wait to do something like that until Vinh has caught up a bit, he's a bit behind right now. :grin2:

Actually, I was planning on clearing out some shelves in a bookcase and putting them on that, which would require that I do exactly what I've been whining about anyway. I guess if you're storing them away the cases are good, or if you want to take a bunch of them on a trip, but I've never found a need for that many on a trip (I always have at least two, but they have their travel places already) and that's not very good for convenient access at home. It's probably going to take a while before I can get to it, but I'll see about a V54 picture and a full inventory picture at some point. ;)

if you went with Carclo lenses on an X65vnXX70 host - how many emitters could you actually get? likely not 28?

Let me get the X65vn2870 & TK75vn1670 Out of the way first before we discuss anything else. By the way. I am not taking anymore more orders on any of these big boys. I have enough headaches already ahhaah

So the RC40vn770 was changed to 6 XHP70s?

Vinh, any idea on what lumen/lux numbers might be? Or... maybe this light is still in the "idea" stage.

I think that the RC40vn770 was a typo--the RC40 reflector is set up for six emitters, and I think trying to change out the reflector would be close to deciding to build a flashlight from scratch. The work to make that component is probably one of the trickiest parts of the flashlight. At around 4000 lumens per emitter, it's probably not going to be a huge amount off 24,000.

I am openly apologizing to the flashlight community and to Vinh for any worries I may have caused. Everything is corrected now and I do look forward to one day purchasing and owning and using one of Vinh's works of engineering marvels and art. Your video of the X65vn2870 on YouTube makes me think about buying one in the hopeful future. Right now I am at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California recovering from a flare of my Crohn's Disease and also from Psychiatric illness.

When I heal, recover, and return to the workplace, I will set aside a couple of grand for one of these. Thanks Vinh and everyone for your understanding and support and forgiveness.

Didn't follow the posts so not sure what is going on but I do wish you a speedy recovery. Come home soon as the hospital is no fun. For now hang in there!

Hey Ven, do you know the working voltage for the rc40vn battery pack??? Example X65VN battery pack is 12 - 16.8.
