Yup that is exactly what many did. Member AreWeThereYetDad offered free screws to anyone who wanted this for years. Cheers Troy!

Yes I have used them and there fine. Just have to make sure you don't mess up the cap screws as they are very small and if you strip out the Allen head you are in for trouble getting it out.

begin Post Police

well guys, Im a bit disappointed that the conversation about a suggestion to use a stop screw that prevents rolling on the ACME Rotaries, has been hijacked to chatter about Legacy lights.

unless the clip screw from a legacy fits the ACME rotary dial stop screw, You are all off topic.

The title of this thread is Suggestions, not, retro reflections of Legacy clip screws.

for a moment there I though we were about to get the final detail needed to buy a stop screw for the ACME Rotary Dial.. but, Oh Well..

carry on..

Ok, then, my suggestion was to put clip holes back in the lights. I guess we were on topic all along. :)

By it's very nature a generic "Suggestions" thread will meander through a variety of ideas. No one has a monopoly on the topic for discussion.

In order to prevent myself from future scoldings from the "Post Police" I will leave the clip hole topic for now, but really, let us have a little fun bro.

It's the new year soon, I have a great idea but not the funds to pay for 500 fresh made screws but it CAN be done using one screw. The screws in the older legacy lights were cool if you were lucky enough to get one of those clips which are now as easy to find as living dinosaurs... so I ll put my thinking hat back on and see what happens. Frustrating to say the least. Someone once told me if someone put it together then it can be taken apart and put back together. In this case if Henry built the light and somebody made the screws for it then different screws can be made to fit as we see fit🤓

Little known fact. Hogo reads EVERY post on here in the HDS section.
Hogo has limited super powers.
Hogo rarely uses those superpowers (they give him a rash when used)
Hogo ignores some posts.
Unless it is trolling (and I can be good at that as well), or unless it's disruptive (something more than a loud fart in church), I'll let posts stand (even if it is a completely different light being torture tested in an HDS thread...):poke:

I believe the purpose of bringing up Legacy lights and their holes was to encourage bringing them back or another option. I see no harm in it. I loath the word, but it is, in effect "brainstorming" ideas for a better clip option, which the HDS needs.

Continue.
Hogo out.

Another thought - to attach the clip to the bezel, without changing the distance of the reflector to the diode, remove the groove at all completely. Make bevels on both sides at the junction of the parts. The inner part of the clip to make exactly the shape of this V groove. The very round part of the clip, which sits in this place, be curved, so that when wrapping, it stretches like a spring. Then it can work. But you can cut yourself + there are people who do not like the protruding part of the clip around the groove ;)

You know how people put the clip under the bezel, but it messes with the placement of the reflector?
What if the bezel was designed to have the pocket clip in between the body and bezel, and for those who prefer to have no pocket clip, there would be a ring that can go in there to act as a spacer.
The spacer ring would be the same thickness as the pocket clip.
This way the bezel will always sit at the same height if the user puts the pocket clip or the spacer ring in.
No screw holes for those who prefer no clip and no messed up reflector placement for those who prefer a clip.
The user could switch back and forth by simply removing the bezel and swapping the pocket clip and spacer.

I know it. The current slot is somewhat thinner than the thickness of the clip ring. I would not like to remove and put a small decorative ring + there is always the possibility to forget where I put it (or lose it).

That's a cool idea. It would increase carry options and satisfy the clip and non-clip crowds, as well as the rotary and clicky fans with a minimum of fuss.

Or......... There could be a couple of threaded holes in the body to secure a clip. 😂😂😂😂sorry sorry.

bezel down:
Clickies have a good bezel down option

Rotaries dont have a nice bezel down option.

U shaped clips for bezel down:
The Legacy clickies with clip holes in the head, achieved bezel down carry by using a U shaped clip.

For a Rotary to be clipped bezel down, with a clip attached under the bezel, or screwed to the bezel, or to holes in the head, would also require a U shaped clip.

bezel up:
A bezel up option (clip under the bezel) already exists for both Rotaries and Clickies, but Henry officially discourages it, and I think the only people that do it, have Rotaries. It is not a deep carry setup, and the diameter of the clip ring is greater than the diameter of the light, not ideal.

As thermal guy suggested, if the HDS bezel had a clip screwed to it, it would allow for deeper carry for those wanting bezel up.

I think the majority prefers bezel down carry though, so the rotaries would need a U shaped clip.

I guess I'll add in that if ultimate reliability is the goal, a clip that is sandwiched between the body and bezel is a more reliable setup in that there are no little screw holes that can become stripped.

desert.snake - the clip ring isn't decorative. It's a way to ensure the bezel screws down to the same height with or without the clip attached. While you could lose the spacer ring, it's also possible to lose one or both of the mounting screws on a screw on clip, so I feel that's not much of an issue, plus HDS could always sell spares...

jon_slider - the clip could be made to match the diameter of the light, but if not for any reason, I see no reason why at least the spacer ring couldn't be made to match the light.

Lol I was thinking the same thing. I would like a new design for a decent clip on my hds but have gone so long without it that I'm good without one.its actually hard to believe that a light with this much thought put into it doesn't have one 🤔🤔

Really well thought out idea Frodo. It would be hard to find any resistance to it, except for right here on CPF. Same people who didn't want NBP to have screw holes also don't want you or others to have another clip mounting option. :grin2:

With all seriousness I am Curious. What exactly did people not like about the holes in the body to secure the clip.i would really like the take on this from those who disliked it. No fighting or backlash here.

I personally liked the holes as an option but would have them filled with Dads screws and no clip as I prefer to carry in a holster.
The only flashlight clip I ve found useful was the older Surefire e2d one way clip but it broke and couldn't get a replacement then you got the spring steel clips with "non skid" on the First Light USA lights.
Apart from those I did like the looks of the HDS clips made for the body holes but non to be had now so that eliminates that solution. BeSides if you're lucky enough to find one it renders your leather holster obsolete... for me anyway
