BLF Q8. Big power and thermal capacity. Really like the output, runtime, beam profile, and UI. If I'm going on a hike or walk where I'll be carrying a light the whole time this is the one I grab. I end up in areas alone that are creepy at night and it's my personal, palmable little sun.

Thought about it a moment. Actually a few days now.……

Yup the yellow G2x Pro is my favorite. Right now it sits idle on a table while I'm surrounded with daily users.

Peek-a-boo……

To the right is a 2D Rayovac with a compass that is cast in the beam. Left is a Ray-o-Lite (pre-Rayovac) 3D railroad light with SFRR stamped in it from the San Fernado CA railroad.

For 75 percent of my uses, a great walking beam does it for me. Small hot spots make it hard to avoid pitfalls, but a nice even beam is the ticket - so either of my FW3As - Cool White 6500K (purple) or 4000K, 95CRI (aluminum).

As time has gone on I can no longer tell you here is my favorite flashlight by brand and model. I can say that an EDC 18650 style light is my favorite. Multi mode single emitter neutral 4,500 - 5,000k with mechanical lockout.

I had to think about it for a while, but my favorite remains the the hi-cri HDS clicky I bought in 2008. It's no longer my most used light, but it still brings me the most happiness to use of all of my lights.

I really don't know. Wish I did but I simply can't decide which one.

Honestly it might be an old Incan mini-mag. Not because it's the best it's just that was -THE- light for sooo long. Plus drop a 5mm led and you basically have a forever light.

Still need to do a 5mm-to-yuji led P60 mod. I'd love to try it out in a 1xCR123 solarforce L2m and my 2xAA dereelight javelin!

Actually I'd say my overall favorite light is the lumintop tool ti aaa. Handy, gorgeous and a wonderful nichia beam.

My all time favorite, like has my heart for whatever weird reason and I will always have a "thing" for, is the Fenix E01. The light I've found to be a favorite as far as the best\most useful all around light I've tried would have to be the Zebralight H53c.

Zebralight SC64C LE is a FINE choice !

Used it tonight (on Highest level) in 20° temperature
for nearly an hour, out in the Boondocks & Woods.

. . .

The second is a Fenix P1D. I recently bought to mod it. But it was mint, and HAIII I believe and really great the way it is. The anodizing and knurling on the end of the flashlight is just perfect. Just where you need it. Unlike so many others. [emoji16]
It's a bit larger than I imagined for EDC. ( EDC I like AAA) But perfect around the house. I really like the medium mode first. As well as the super smooth twisting action. It may not be my go to, for the middle of the night/low lumens, but that is my exception not the rule for the way I generally use a flashlight! It just feels right fits my hand and both are great to fiddle with in between real uses.
So that is another angle on what make a flashlight a favorite to me.

Anyone else have a light that is just right in their hand? Not necessarily the brightest, most expensive etc but something makes it fall into your pocket more than it should!

Currently, my favorite light is the Thrunite TC20, but I have to agree that my second favorite would be the Fenix P1D that's been my EDC for over a decade. It's been indestructible and never failed me. Sure, there are many brighter lights out there, but I can't imagine a more durable one that inspires as much confidence. It's like that old pick up truck that just keeps on going.

My most useful torch is an older Surefire LED headlamp that uses 123 lithium batteries and is stepless from .5 lumen to 100 lumens. It's the low power settings I wanted...perfect for night flying as it substitutes for panel lighting. Surefire has since discontinued that light and replaced it with a USB rechargeable model. It's brighter, but of no value to me without the 123 lithium batteries.

The 123 lithium batteries have a ten year shelf life, are all but unaffected by temperature, super light, and provide a enormous amount of power. People don't like them because they're expensive, but if you buy them right they're not bad at all. Put a torch and lithium batteries in your kit and five years later when it's -20 degrees, you can pull it out and it'll be as good as the day you put it in there.

The torch I use the most is a Streamlight pen light that runs off a single AAA battery. It gets used the most because it's always in my front pocket. I use that light every single day. I tried the light that uses two AAA batteries, a light that uses one AA battery, and a light that uses one 123 lithium battery, but they were all too big for every day carry. The single AAA model is perfect.

Around the house I'm using a Streamlight Ultra Stinger rechargeable left over from patrol. There are much brighter lights out these days, but it does the job and I'm used to it. It's nice to have a rechargeable light at the house so you don't have to think about battery consumption.

I like the microstream too Daniel, but for some reason mine kept disappearing. So after losing about 8 of them I switched to a different light and have managed not to lose that one. Weird.

Welcome to CPF btw.

Recently I was burning junk mail in a gutted gas grill when I noticed it had a hole in the bottom that was allowing hot coals through and torching wet grass. No biggy, but after a bit the wet grass had dried out from the coals hitting the ground.

This time of year dung beatles are gone so with three dogs it means land mines between my grill and the garden hose between pooper scooper sessions. I had skipped the late summer burn due to dry conditions (and the hole) so a big ole box of stuff was setting in a chair we needed to be available at the annual Thanksgiving gathering. It was done on a whim after work and it was getting dark fast. I had forgotten about the hole in the bottom of the grill.

Having a flashlight in my pocket I pondered if there was enough time to go indoors and grab my yellow G2x Pro. Walking to the hose with pocket light pointing out turds I looked back at the small fire and decided "yeah I got time" and took a detour indoors to grab it.

By the time I had a water supply to the now not so small fire there was zero turd on my shoes. Mission accomplished. The fire had gone from about the size of a coffee cup to about the size of a coffee table and was still growing but was quickly extinguished once the water was available.

Two lessons learned. Keep water handy before starting the quarterly junk mail burn and have the yellow G2x Pro handy.

Two very good lessons for sure. I have G2X's positioned all over - house, cars, laptop bag, etc., but the size makes it challenging to carry all the time. I also have fire extinguishers all over the place - probably to the point of over kill. Oh well, better safe then sorry.

Thrunite Archer 1A V3.

It's a basic tactical style 1AA light, but I love the UI. Also 14500 capable so it has some versatility. All for a budget friendly $30.

My favorite is my PFlexPro Convoy S2+. It's the light I always have with me, and the one I'd pick if I had to leave all the others behind. Love the snappy, illuminated tail switch, the great tint, the configurability, and, most importantly, the reverse clicky. Reverse clicky is so much better than forward, IMHO. I also really appreciate the voltage check feature and, if necessary, the high lumens empowered by amazing thermal management. It's light weight and easy to pocket (though it usually rides in my backpack). It could be improved with better aluminum, a red or amber secondary, and a ramping firmware like Narsil or Anduril. That light is my grail and AFAIK doesn't exist.

Coming in a close second is my BLF LT1. If I had to get rid of my other lights and just keep these two, I'd be quite satisfied.

Third, BOSS 70. Love the tint and secondary. Fourth, HDS. Rotary UI is growing on me, and really like the e-switch.
