I got some new equipment and am finally able to measure this accurately. It's drawing 1.21 mA on moonlight (battery was about 4.05V). This is for an estimated 0.07 lumens (a different S2 from the one I measured originally). Someone else confirmed a really dim moonlight in one of the review...
The regular S1 (aluminum) has anodized threads, so, yes. Not sure about the other variants.
Same thing. If you want brighter, perhaps check out its bigger brother, the S2. It's 1x18650 and has a 950 lumen turbo mode (for 2 minutes).
+1 for Amazon. They won't let you do a split payment with multiple cards, but the way around that is to buy an Amazon gift card. Just pick the email delivery option and you can buy one for any custom amount you'd like ($0.50 minimum). The redemption link is then emailed to you immediately. I've...
Was the moonlight mode on your S2 really dim? The official spec is 0.5 lumens but I estimate mine to be about 0.03 lumens. It is far more dim than my Olight S15 Baton or ThruNite TN12 (2016) which have official specs of 0.5 and 0.4 lumen moonlights, respectively. I actually find the super-dim...
I wish they'd improve the UI. I have a TN12 2016 and I hate having to cycle through all the higher modes to get to a lower one. My ideal UI would be:
1) Quick press to go up a level (just like it is now).
2) Long press to go down a level (instead of strobe).
3) If the mode selector button is...
If it is the protection circuit tripping, you can verify that with a multimeter. Once tripped, the cell should read zero volts. The protection circuit resets itself once placed in a charger.
I will tell you how I did it but it probably won't be very useful. I have an X-Rite i1Display Pro display calibration tool that has an ambient light measurement feature. There's a free program called Argyll and one of the utilities is spotread.exe which is able to get a raw numeric reading out...
The last 18650 I bought was KeepPower branded. It uses the exact same cell and protection circuit, both made in Japan, although the final assembly is done in China (chances are the Orbtronic is too). I ordered mine on eBay from a seller named "genuinecells" who sells them for $12.95, ships from...
