    new $250 HID spotlight (*BRIGHT*)

Yes - havis shields - that's it (for some dumb reason I wanted to say hunter douglass) - who's selling them for 179 (PM me please) - I have a friend who wants one. I can't believe they can make something this well built for such a low price - i seriously would have expected much more - it...

    new $250 HID spotlight (*BRIGHT*)

I just bought on ebay a while back a spotlight (it was miscategorized i think in the vehicle safety lights section) - it's actualy made by a vehicle safety light company (HD or something like that) - not much to it - cigarette lighter plug and a push on/off switch) - bulb life 2500 hours, power...

    Legal flashlight length

Last night a friend and I were inspecting the dimmer/flasher accessory tailcap for the SL-35X streamlight - he asked if that flashlight was "legal" - concerned over the overall length of the light approaching that of a club, nightstick, or bat. I did a quick search on google tonight for the...

    White Sodium?

"white" sodium is really a misnomer - its simply a sodium (HPS) bulb with a reformulated mixture that's part-way to the salts used in metal-halide, but still predominately sodium and interchangable with existing sodium lights when re-lamping a group of fixtures without ballast modifications...

    Rechargeable Alkalines

someone correct me if i'm wrong here but I seem to recall that all standard alkaline chemistry batteries worked with the rechargers for "rechargable alkalines" (I never bought into that plan and stuck with the hi-cap nimh) The special "rechargable" alkalines were perhaps better sealed or lacked...

    Waiting for Carley Lamps

I've ordered lights and reflectors from carley lamps several times for custom lights (mostly video) - some things you need to remember -- they're selling custom bulbs at a mass production price by grouping your order with larger production orders for guys like SF, etc - so you're getting a low...

Streamlight LiteBox - not charging - Help?

I use 2 lightboxes (both 20W wide spread beams as worklights - one has the power fail auto-on option) - I agree with FC's note - replace the cell 1x/yr due to SLA behavior. Even though after a year the light still seems bright when you take it off the charger - you'll note that it quickly drops...

12....count em, 12 5 Watters on the Chrysler Tomahawk!!!

Around here (Bay Area, CA) - the Fed-Ex trucks are running with LED clusters for the brake and tail lights, as well as turnsignal functioning - the instant on/off is a good giveaway when looking at the flashing, and up close you can see the individual LEDs in the cluster. I'm not sure if these...

    Want An X990, but where?

I don't trust ebay auctions one bit. There are way too many scams out there. I just hit on the original auciton listed above and found the user is "no longer registered" - i.e. something went wrong and they got blacklisted. Never had a problem with brightguy.

    Beast Pics?

what happened? i haven't been around for a while - decided to check in on the flashlight area before doing my xmas shopping - and figured by now the 'beast' would be on retail shelves [or as close as SF can get to there] -- but the beast is gone - all records of it destroyed - and even...

Why I like the DIM flashlights (Sometimes!)!

More bright isn't always the most useful - true it is nice to have a light that will shine a 1/2 mile to see what's up ahead - there are ample lights out there that will handle this need. My personal favorite for quite a while has been the streamlight lightbox with the 20W bulb (bright) but...

Depth tester made from PVC Toliet pipe (WDV pipe)

I take it all the streetlights will be yellow LEDs - zoning ordinance, right? I think craig's original idea of a tube designed just for checking the "dunkability" of normal (i.e. non-dive) lights was fine - 4" ABS will hold a collumn of water taller than the room it's in - since we're not...

What is the brightest non-rechargeable flashlight?

Oh - and here's another possible entry I forgot - buy a streamlight sl-35 (5 D rechargable) - open it up and dump the recharge pack and insert your choice of lithium D's (caution 3V) or 1.5V alkaline Ds. Now you have a 20W non-rechargable light (the SL-35 holds its own against the M6 - I have...

What is the brightest non-rechargeable flashlight?

For the last time - the maxabeam IS NOT HID - it is a xenon short arc - and flashes just fine, without the warmup issues of HID or bulb life shortening from flashing.

What is the brightest non-rechargeable flashlight?

Since the original question mentioned arctic / polar use - divide the runtimes by 2 even for lithium - at least lithium works at subzero temps, but you pay the penalty in reduced capacity. An M6 and a box of 123's sounds like the best combo given the constraints.
