About to give my three boys their first 18650 LED lights

Pardon me for being frank, but are you out of your mind? There are reasons that these devices are accompanied by statements such as "adult supervision required" and "not a toy". They have the potential to be dangerous, cause harm, or fires. There are plenty of bright enough AA flashlights out...

    Klarus G20 review

I don't think it's just a parasitic drain problem, there seems to be a voltage leak in these lights when off. Had two of them, had the first replaced after noticing the LED slightly illuminated while outside at night. The replacement had the same problem, but much worse. I've got a photo of the...

Zebralight SC600-III (XHP35, 1x18650) Review: RUNTIMES, BEAMSHOTS, VIDEO and more!

I just received this light today and discovered an undocumented mode that's probably worth adding to the review text. There's a 5th beacon mode (Location beacon). If you turn off the light in L2 and then triple-click to activate the beacon modes, the .2hz low mode will then become a location...

    TN31 Standby Current Draw

How is this possible? The off switch on the TN31 is a mechanical switch.

    Best rechargeable "D" cell

Just for the record I have lots of Tenergy Centura cells (16 D, prob. about 60 AA, about the same AAA, 4 9 volts). I've had absolutely zero problems with them and they work great. Haven't seen any bad reviews of them either. One thing about using multiple cells in a device is that you dont want...

Would You TRUST a TrustFire 18650 after watching this video?

It's pretty obvious if a cell has a protection PCB on it; you can see it on the bottom of the battery (you'll see an indent in the battery), and you can see the positive lead leading to it running down the side of the battery beneath the wrapper. Charging them the way he did is crazy too. The...

Saw my first XML at wal-mart today..

Here's the URL from wallyworld: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Black-Decker-Lithium-Ion-10-Watt-LED-Spotlight/21804457 I haven't found it on B&D's site. I wonder how many 18650's one could stuff inside of one of these.. They could have done better than 1 hour on high, probably has just one.

Yeah, tint shift is normal like Gi2c said above, though these are beyond normal.. My S10 is green on max output w/rcr123.

Accessing the modes on the Spark SD6-500CW

Afaik the only thing that would limit it to 2 modes is if your cr123s were about dead. Light supports them, web site says up to 7.6v also. I'm pretty sure the higher modes drop off when there isn't enough power in the batteries to drive them. I have the 460NW, though haven't really run it down...

Saw my first XML at wal-mart today..

Was in a black and decker 6-volt carryaround style light. Didn't see it on their web site, though. $50, "Up to 788 lumens". 1 hour runtime on high, orange. Probably throws pretty well for the size of the reflector. Don't remember what batteries it uses, might have been rechargable.

Tip for fitting larger protected 18650 batteries into multi-cell carrier lights

Not sure if this has been discussed before, but I've found that in the lights where I have problems fitting the carrier into the flashlight with these batteries, if you rotate the batteries to where the metal strip for the positive lead to the protection pcb is facing inward, the carrier fits...
