This topic/title reminded me of a very fine man who posted here often, Woods Walker, whose posts were so wonderful, informative and always enlightening, who passed away. I miss him lots. May he Rest In Peace.

Ozark trail $1.00 50 lumen plastic flashlight

I’m glad you gave away those free lights and I can’t dispute your points on quality only to say that these lights already come with batteries; also, to me, they are the most cost-effective way to assist another in her or his sudden darkness. Plus, I’m not looking to give out a fine quality...

Ozark trail $1.00 50 lumen plastic flashlight

I love these $1.00 lights and I’ll tell you why. One, these are the perfect lights to give out to neighbors (and others) when there is a power outage because 50 lm is nothing to sneeze about, and the bright colors they come in (and the fact that they tail stand) make them attractive for only...

    Extended Hurricane Outage (1 Week)

1- Defiant’s skinny lantern (2 for $14.99 at Walmart, it used to be at Home Depot) is phenomenal. Invest in Lithium AAA and AA batteries. 2- Wear a Nitecore Tube light on a lanyard, have a backup. Keep at least one EDC (everyday carry) light on you and in your vehicle at all times. 3- Check...

What is a truly robust survival flashlight

Whew! Thank you, I was beginning to think I was the only one! Just like after I watched my first X-Files episode 20 years ago, I was like, “You mean there are OTHERS out there as ‘paranoid’ or suspicious as I am? I gotta meet this Chris Carter!” Hi, my name is LTBL!, I think way too much...

What is a truly robust survival flashlight

Should the best survival flashlight be, as the OP stated, bombproof, or, utilitarian? For example, if I had to choose just ONE “survival” light, it would be the Waka Waka Power which which will recharge its internal batteries in the sun and provide a boost to some minor devices like a cell...

    Duty quality AA?

Olight’s i5T will give you a max of 300 lumens on an AA battery. The Tool 2.0 with a 14500 will give you a max of 650 lumens and 270 with a regular AA lithium. Each is durable. The Tool 2.0 has a smaller circumference. I love both lights. - LetThereBeLight!

    Apocalypse Single AA Flashlight

Then I think you want Olight’s relatively new i5t. That sucker is durable and built like a tank! And almost as heavy as one! I’m fairly certain that if I dropped it that it would bounce back up and hurt my leg! 300 lumens tops on an AA. On the second quick “push” or tap (without of course...

    Single AAA LED lights.

    Same here.

What did you use your flashlight for today?

I took my friend out to the restaurant he preferred for his birthday dinner this afternoon with another friend. At one point we were talking about flashlights for about 45-seconds because I’ve gifted them lights at Christmas over the years and I had just asked if they had any flashlight...

Comments from non-flashoholics that really annoy you.

I tell people who question me nicely or meanly that there is no guarantee that power will stay on and, as was said here before by other posters, there’s a 100% chance it will be dark tonight.

No more Mags at my local Home Depot

I of course do not have any evidence of this but it’s POSSIBLE that Maglite increased its profit margin at Walmart’s expense OR would not adjust their profit margins and Walmart might have decided to go with manufacuturers whose lights customers will buy while maintaining the same profit margin...

    The Lounge 2020

Feel better soon, Vinh. I’m curious: what light did you bring in case the lights went out when you came to?

Olight is about to release the I5T AA light.

I received my i5T AA light on Monday. It’s so solid (heavy enough to feel it sink into your pants pocket if you don’t want to clip it to your shirt) that I think a tank could run into it and have to be sent for repair! So it has a solid feel. As I understand it, they won’t make the blue...
