A headlamp would be a better option, but if money is a problem, maybe try the small Moko LED clip on light for $16. It's designed for the 6-inches Kindle - very lightweight, short and broad upper clip to hold on the device without covering part of the screen. It fits with the Kindle 7, so it should also fit with the Sony PRS-300 because they have the same depth (0.4").

This is the best little light. Designed for reading, two lumen modes, some models have red & USB recharge. Rotates & twists, clip to your shirt pocket or lapel or to your belt to illuminate two steps in front of you:
