I don't think the motives of the so-called globalists are as sinister as some here believe.
They absolutely are and your suggestion that it's nothing more than greed for money is almost a whitewash.
Now there's a one upsmanship among multibillionaires to see who can add another digit to their net worth first.
Now the poison of class warfare introduced, and so it goes, with 'self identifying' poor denigrating rich and vice versa. Masking the truth that there's good and bad to be readily found among both categories, but only one of the two is okay to categorically attack while the other remains politically incorrectly unattackable.

Now there's one upsmanship to see who can steal more of other peoples money in the name of communism, dressed up and disguised under the misnomer of social justice.

Anyway, all these dates on ending ICE cars sales will be walked back, if it's a town or entire country.

I agree with a few of you pretty much all of the time
I agree with some of you some of the time

What I can't cope with is that with a few of you I can agree with something in a post but disagree with something else. Sometimes in the same sentence!

Apart from the "like" button there should be a "beats me" button.

Which isn't a horrible thing so long as we keep things civil. In other places where politics are discussed things often generate into a shouting match of Trump this, Biden that within a few posts, even if the topic had nothing to do with either one. Here at least we (usually) don't stoop to that.

BTW, I don't think the motives of the so-called globalists are as sinister as some here believe. I think their motivation is just pure, old-fashioned, insatiable greed. Now there's a one upsmanship among multibillionaires to see who can add another digit to their net worth first. Props to the first one who becomes a trillionaire.

They keep the masses stuck as wage slaves living paycheck to paycheck so they have no time think how awful their plight is. And pit us against each other over things which often don't even matter. Meanwhile they're robbing a better future from all of us.
You need to start reading the books you write before you hit that send button.

What's their motivation then? To me it seems everything they've been doing so far is to ensure every dollar the masses earn gets spent buying stuff from companies they own. Rent homes instead of buying them. Rent software instead of buying it. So yes, they're obsessed with controlling people, but only to the extent that they can shake them down for every dollar they earn. Keep people poor and desperate, you have a work force you can easily exploit. Look at how they're trying to kill work from home, a perk workers love, even though it saves them money on office space. Can't have the masses not spending a fortune on gas and car repairs each week getting to work, not to mention having less free time for themselves. Commercial real estate is tanking because workers aren't going back to the office? How is that the worker's problem? Nobody told these companies to load up on office space they don't need.
Now the poison of class warfare introduced, and so it goes, with 'self identifying' poor denigrating rich and vice versa. Masking the truth that there's good and bad to be readily found among both categories, but only one of the two is okay to categorically attack while the other remains politically incorrectly unattackable.
That class warfare has existed ever since there were rich and poor. To be sure, some of it is indeed petty jealousy of people who worked very hard to get where they are. But some of it is also due to the rich getting wealthy off the underpaid labor of the serfs. Here's how I look at it. People have differing abilities so you can't have equal outcomes. However, the most able person can't do thousands of times the work of the least able person. Maybe 10 or 15 or 20 to 1 is more like it. So the disparities in pay and wealth should be somewhere along those lines.
Now there's one upsmanship to see who can steal more of other peoples money in the name of communism, dressed up and disguised under the misnomer of social justice.
What about stealing from workers, paying them far less than the added value of their work? It's this one single thing which often results in socialism suddenly seeming like a good thing. You don't want socialism, which is often followed by communism, then pay your workers in proportion to the value their labor adds. The smartest companies split profits among the workers, instead of giving them to shareholders.

Greed and money are one thing. But that's simply not enough for most. They want power. They want control. The idea that individual people whom they consider to be beneath them can, mostly, do whatever they wish; well that bothers them! So, if they can cause people to obey, or severely punish and make an example of those who don't, they're satisfied.

EDIT: Clarification.

I've honestly never understood this. Trying to control people is a lot of work. It really is. The minute you relax that control they'll revert back to doing whatever they did that you don't like. It's like herding cats.

Moreover, it's important to ask why you want to control people. For the petty boss who orders his charges back to the office, even though they've been working successfully at home, I'll bet there would be no good answer. The boss just wants to control where they are for 8 hours a day. Bonus points for making them more miserable since most control freaks get off on that.

Governments used 9/11 as an excuse to exert ever more control over people. Sadly, they never ended that control when the reasons for it no longer existed.

Well, they still exist. Muslim nations hate us and would prefer it if we were all dead. But I get your meaning. It ticks people off that others don't live the way they do. So, they want to control the behavior of others.

Yes, many of the reasons still exist. I'm mostly referring to stuff like TSA security theater. Once we hardened the doors to the cockpits we could have reverted to pre-9/11 airport security.

Those Muslim nations are perfect examples of what you say. Don't believe as they do, they want you to either convert or die. They can't just coexist with you.

Form Motor Company issued a memo to its suppliers on Monday stating they were cutting production on their number-one selling EV, the F-150 Lightning by 50% in 2024.

There's a reason for the saying - Whatever the market will bear.

Ask yourself what was needed to produce the battery.

Now if the light was powered by a pedal-powered generator, you'd have a zero-emission light.
Then think once again, hmmm, what did it take to make this pedal powered generator.

The people pushing all-electric anything aren't doing it for the environment.

The food needed to make the pedal power actually has far greater emissions than to produce the light and battery. For the same reason, e-bikes actually have a lower carbon footprint than pedal bikes.

Besides that, generator-powered lights mostly sucked. I remember the ones we had until battery-powered LED lights came out. The only way to get a decent amount of light back when all we had was incandescent bulbs was to use a generator. Batteries sucked. A fairly bright light would run them down in a matter of minutes. Problem with generators was their variable output. At slower riding speeds the bulb glowed a dim orange, making it useless. At higher speeds it would get too much voltage. Burning out bulbs while descending hills was a common occurrence. While we technically could regulate voltage, electronics back then were a lot more expensive.

Then you had the drag on the tire, the whine, and extra tire wear.

Now you can have a nice LED light with a pair of 18650s or 21700s which gives several hundred lumens for at least a few hours, or proportionately more run time at lower levels. No more need for generators thankfully.

I'm not shedding any tears. The F-150 is an abomination, whether ICE or EV. The EV version uses enough batteries to power 4 or 5 normal-sized sedans. There are some things EVs do well, but powering a full-sized truck isn't one of them, at least at the present.

By that logic nothing is zero emission, what did it take to make a bicycle, the steel, the rubber, the paint, the grease lube......
The only way to be zero emissions is to walk naked, cuz making clothes involves emissions too.
