WHY?

The answer is simple :- Green tint.

Xpg and xpg2 are Cree best LEDs ever made in terms of tint and CRI and even throw

We have entered an Italian restaurant and the waiter asked if we want mac and cheese with Velveeta, or microwave pizza.

Cree is not going to compete with Nichia for tint and CRI. Horsepower, yes.

Re: HDS high CRI lights - Poll: will you ever go back?

I want a light that can throw for tactical use...

Yikes! Thats Green.
I think HDS is going to give you the throw you want, hopefully not that Green.

Cree XP-L2 or XP-G3?

Not a dream list of wants, but between the two, which do you prefer and why.

I have entered an Italian restaurant and asked for a been and cheese burrito with sour cream.

Cree is not going to compete with Nichia for tint and CRI. Horsepower, yes.

I would still buy a 200 Lumen High CRI, because I prioritize illuminating RED Spaghetti sauce, and am not looking to throw a Tactical Green Beam at a Burrito.

otoh, I respect some people prioritize tactical throw.

A Higher Lumen HDS is coming, and it will be Low CRI.

Would I go for an XP-L2 in the 5000k range close to the black body that kicked out 375-400 lumens? I'm not talking a horrid green or angry blue tint, but a nice binned emitter.

Yes, I think it will be great if HDS can produce a thrower with tint near the black body line. imho, the XP-G3 will throw farther than the XP-L. I have total confidence in Hogos ability to source exceptional LEDs.
