Hope everyone had a great turkey day.
Was out visiting family for Thanksgiving.
My folks are in their eighties. Going strong.
Gave them each a HDS 250 light for Xmas last year.
I left the settings at factory spec and some 123 primaries..
Was curious how the lights were working out.
Said they use them all the time, mostly for short periods.
They mentioned they couldn't remember all the functions though.
I remember some talk of making these near fool-proof, make all modes the same.
I re-programmed them to A-B-C @ level 22, and the D = triple-click strobe.
Should double the battery life while still being a usable 150ish or so lumens.
-Will see what happens.
...
Brought my 250 V3 XP-G2 Rotary with me. (old snowflake).
Has a Lee #162 pale amber filter which gives it a pleasant 4600k or so temp.
Using a doubled Novatac rubber cap on the head. Reduces outside spill by 1/3.
Roughly a 2 meter wide round beam at 3 meters distance. Plenty for me.
(These V3 lights have a little more of a narrow spot beam than newer versions).
(Super comfortable to hold in big hands).
Here's a cell-phone pic of just the light beam at about 10 ft.
(This is not a Hi-CRI light, I think the XP-G2 is around 73 CRI).
Colors are more than adequate for normal everyday use.
