Hello all - fist time posting on this site. I wonder if I could get some help picking a Haiku that hopefully will fill my needs at work. First, some background on me.
To be clear I am not a flashlight specialist, I am just a guy that uses a light a lot throughout my work day. I work in a zoo, and specifically in a large rainforestexhibit – 16,000 square feet with a 60' greenhouse type ceiling and lots ofunderstory plus dark service areas. Icurrently use an HDS executive clicky and it does work very well for me. However, I have always wanted a Mcgizmo sowas looking for my first one.
Things I need from a light are the ability to compete withambient light – true color rendering to make sure all aspects of a particularanimal look true to life (up close and from a little distance) – the ability topinpoint things from say 15 to maybe 20 away. I find myself doing lots ofthings up close, as well as some distance so that, I think, is kind of a challenge.
Last week I took delivery of my first, a 1x123 mule with119v and 3v – I read as much as I could, and I really, really like this light – the coloris fantastic, the size and weight are very nice and I really appreciate the UIcompared to the HDS clicky. However, itdoes not throw at all really and that is a rookie mistake on my part for not completelyunderstanding the mechanics of this complex world of lights. I will keep this head though I think, becauseit is just fantastic for things up close and I am sure I can use it from timeto time.
So, what I think I need is a new head to go on the 1x123pack I already have, and after more reading I believe that to be theHaiku. But, then there are the ratherconfusing iterations possible with each head to pick from. I am trying to figure out the emitter topick.
I need some flood, natural light and some throw at thedistances mentioned, as well as ability to counteract a good amount of ambientlight. Can anyone give me somesuggestions or threads to read up on?
I was leaning to the 119v with 3v configuration.
Thank you all so much for any assistance you can offer me .
