Re: Which 5 lights can you not live without.

The list is always changing, but for now -

1 - Arc AAA v4: rarely used, but always on keychain just in case.
2 - Fenix L1P: EDC
3 - Eternalight Marine: loooong runtime for emergencies, esp with a spare four-pack of lithium AAs. Long as in months and months.
4 - Magcharger with WA1160 bulb: output rivals Mag85 (to my eyes), without the hassle.
5 - Thor (alleged) 15 million candlepower: when it time to scare the neighbors; and nothing is brighter for the money.

cheers

Ok, I'll add my five:

1. Lioncub
2. ARC AAA-P
3. CMG Infinity Ultra G
4. FF3
5. Surefire U2

Do I have to stop at only five? The Jil DD and Intelli are also a favorites.

Re: Which 5 lights can you not live without.

At 5 its almost too many for non-flashaholics.

In no particular order, these are the lights that either get the most use or are the most important to have available.

- Arc AAA-P (Wife keychain)
- Raider 9DX with LED Tailcap (Vehichle glovebox)
- Streamlight 4AA PP Luxeon (Bedside)
- Maglight 2C Modded with 3x123a & 6 Cell Xenon (Bedside)
- Fenix L2T (Travel Bag)

ARC LS first run CYAN
...er that actually does it for the ones I couldn't do without!

Honourable mentions - INOVA T1,SUREFIRE C2,PEAK five led brass 1AA(Don't recall what it's called),MAGLIGHT 3D with 3W diamond drop in,FENIX L0P,FLIKLITE 3W marine,and PETZL ZIPKA+.

But, God help me, I've got many many more than that!!!!!And duplicates...unopened!!! Whoa!

I'd like to add the KL3 Surefire head to my list as the fifth light I couldn't do without - doesn't matter which body - currently on my C2 body - much respect!!!! Sorry I didn't include it earlier, but I only just got it!!! Thanks go to Lighthound.

Re: Which 5 lights can you not live without.

5? That's a generous number to leave me with.

McLux III PD
Fire~Fly III
my new Exolion
HDS U60XRGT
Surefire A2

If I had to narrow it down to 3 (keychain, pocket, and larger general use), It'd be McLux III PD, Exolion, and A2. I love my HDS, and in fact carry it now more than my McLux PD, but I'd still choose the PD for a "rest of your life" light.

Re: Which 5 lights can you not live without.

1. Pimped Q3(2 stage, TYOH, Dorcy driver) as my EDC.
2. Fenix L1P as alternate EDC.
3. C3/A19/P91/ 2x17670s as bedside and adventure light.
4. Red CMG Infinity for reading in bed.
5. Photon Freedom "Doug Ritter" on keychain.

I guess these are light I couldn't live without, because they're the only ones I use consistantly and each has it's specific purpose.
I'd like to give my Firefli ZA-4 a special mention, since it's always around my neck.

Re: Which 5 lights can you not live without.

McLuxIII PD

ARC AAA

ARC LS

HDS EDC BASIC 60

Surefire 6P

In no particular order

This is such a tough question because there are so many lights that I use on a regular basis. To single out 5 is very hard for me to do.

My EDC is a McLux III PD. I would be lost without that light (I have a back up for it as well) I really can't say enough about this light. The PD is one of the best lights ever made.

The Arc AAA is on my keychain. It is just there. Allways ready when I need it.

The ARC LSh-P. I just love this light. It is well made I love the finish I have a coupple that see regular use that look totally new ...still.

The HDS EDC. I was torn about including this on my list because it dosen't see as much use as some of the others. But I love that I can dim this down. It is great for reading. It is heavy duty and it fits in the pocket just right. I have a coupple of these and they have served me very well.

The 6P. I use this at work. It is my go to light when I need a portable incan light. The one on my work belt is a rare olive/green HAIII one that I bought because the guy was out of the black units. Little did I know I was buying a collectors item. I run mine with a p-61 globe and it rocks.

I could easily add more lights that I couldn't live without but I won't Just look at my sig and you will get the idea. I can't live without any of them.

Re: Which 5 lights can you not live without.

Dta116,
Excellent job posting a summary at the top! That makes it SOOOOO much more interesting and beneficial to revisit this thread. Good question to start with, but now it is actually useful for everyone without having to go through all the posts. Lots of posts, too.

Just a few observations:
- I always knew the Arc AAA-P was popular, but WOW. Is there something I don't know here?
- Surprised there was only one Q3 though.
- Is there an HDS EDC 45? there are two of those and two HDS 42. I think they are the same, so 4 total.
- Jetbeam and Jet-1 are the same, for a total of 2.
- Surefire E2O is listed twice.
- LEDBeam 3c is LED, not incan.
- Magcharger is not HID. Almost certain.
- There are two Gladius listed separetely as LED and Night Ops. Same light.
- Petzle Tikka+ is listed twice too, one for 2 as Peltz, one Petzl for 1.

All in all a very good job and more accurate than I would have been, this is not mean to criticize at all, just help make it more accurate (since you are keeping score ;-)
Well done. I learned much and had fun reading it, just have too much time on my hands today.

Re: Which 5 lights can you not live without.

Thank you Blindasabat ------

I was wondering when someone would help me out on this list, I have no clue what some of these lights are, a lot of guessing going on, not an athority by any means.

Some of these duplicates were what was listed by the poster, I was trusting their knowledge, (Not always the best idea) but I did not have the time to resource all of these lights. (Well, I guess some were my mistakes....
ohgeez.gif
)

Some of these light were incorporated with other similar lights, (Such as most Surefire C3's are mods but not in the same way, and all Photons are keychain lights but slightly different models).

Ok, enough jaber, Thank you for your assistance with this project.

Oh Yea, The chart is updated.

SF M6
SF E2e
Anglelux
Fenix L0P
SPY005

However if I had to pick only TWO lights the selection would be vastly different. The two would be a SF M3 and a Fenix L1P

Re: Which 5 lights can you not live without.

I could live without them, but there would be some misty eyes if they were lost:

1. HDS EDC 60
2. Surefire U2
3. Princeton Tec Apex (field biologist, don't care if it looks nerdy;) )
4. Wolfeyes 9DX
5. Pelican dive lights, can't decide which....

All run on Li-ions or rechargeables:)

Re: Which 5 lights can you not live without.

In order:

1) Surefire A2 - most useful and practical light I own

2) Inova X5 - great light, built tough

3) Surefire 9P/KL3 - use for work, long runtime, good output, tough

4) Dorcy Super 1 Watt CR123 - great little light, pocketable

5) Mag85 - for walking at night, burning stuff
