Build a GTvn Oslon today
I tune the beam as perfect as I can to my eyes and only got 1-1.2Mcd
I measure from 7.5 as with all my light...
I swear the hot spot look more intense than that
Regardless the tiny narrow beam and low lumen is kind of nonsense in a light this big..

I will likely not build GTvn with the Oslon

with that setup, id say your wasting your time shooting the lux meter at anything less than 30 meters
50 to 75 meters would be better
and your right, that would be like having a 5 pound, ball bat, for a lazer pointer

at 7.5 meter the beam is definitly not focus. There is a visible donut hole. The donut hole doesnt go away until like 15m...Definitely need more room...

For the BLF GTvn Oslon, I am hoping for 2 Million Candela or so.

The BLF GT may not be the logical light for using an Oslon, but that would be the best way to set new flashlight candela records, and make a super pencil beam thrower! It wouldn't need an aspheric lens and wavien collar.

The reflector might actually not be precise enough for such a small LED! You can check this buy taking a picture from the position of the sensor of the lux meter. The entire reflector must be evenly yellow / lit up like this:

I have a very similar sized light with the Black Flat (linked in my sig). Focussing is very, very difficult (you need to position the LED with a precision of around 0.1mm in all three dimensions)! Also, you need to measure in >=12m distance.

Köf3 retested those. They are not as good as he thought in the beginning, their luminance is lower than the Black Flat.
They are also smaller so it will be even more difficult to focus them.

Damn.

No potential 3m CD BLF GT laser beam then. The Black Flat should be closer to 2m CD though, Vinh needs to measure >20m out to his lux meter.

Hi Vinh,

I didn't realize until a few minutes ago that one could order lumen/lux measurements for a vinh light.

Therefore, I just ordered these for my already-ordered BLF GTvn Spec 6.

Still interested in seeing measurements for the Oslon option.

I suspect it will be at least another week or two, but one can always hope.

I don't want to order a blf gt cft90 until I see a tn42vn90 beamshot live. I know gt number look good but $700 ( need beamshots).

Building a GTvn takes me about 2-3 days. After perfectly centering the LED I have to let the thermal adhesive cured overnight.

Here are the copper tabs about to be installed after LED is centered and Set:


Carrier, circuit and all wrings ready to go:


Stupid me pick the wrong/stock carrier for initial start up and immediate smoked the LED. Modded on the left, Stock on the right.


There goes lots of effort and labor + a dead $125 LED. I was litterally depressed for a whole 30 minutes. Especially this happened just an hour after I ruined a Maelstrom G5 reflector while centering. Ruined another G5 reflector + SR52UT reflector days before. Notice the LED wires around the CFT90 all roasted black.

A bit more bad news until things improved ;-)

Today I build another GTvn and tuned the beam some more. Guess what?!

Bad news: All GTvn CFT90 will have rings around the hot spot

GOOD NEWS: I just hit 1.75Mcd!!!!

Nice! 1.75mcd. I don't think anyone will notice or care about the rings when lighting up an object 2 + miles away.

truth, but...
the numbers keep climbing, the more vin lays hands on this light .
i say theres more to come.
my guess of 1.9 mcd still stands :thumbsup:
stay at it vinh, 2.0 mcd is getting soo close !

WOW 1.75 Mcd, or maybe more!

Now I am looking forward even more to my BLF GTvn Spec 6!

The ring doesn't bother me, and even shows how perfectly centered the led is. If the ones with the CFT90's all have rings, that should not prevent them from possibly being a FIAT LUX.

Suppose you use a new driver, so that the CFT-90 is driven at 30 amps or so, instead of the present 20 amps.

About how much would the candela increase, with tuning being the same, etc?
