just got mine.

Mine has that yellow center also but I'm not too worried about it.

The magnet is weak. It will not hold sideways on a rounded surface like a pipe.

The UI isn't as bad as I initially thought. Less than a minute of practice to get used to.

Overall, I'm happy with this light. Gunna try EDCing it for a while.

Make sure to lock it out or you will burn yourself when it turns on in your pocket.

Would the Nitecore Concept 1 be suitable as a cap light?
Yes. Worn on the brim of a baseball cap it holds on tight. That said, as light as it is, you will notice the weight of an 18650 hanging off your brim like that. Headlamps or smaller lights (AA/RCR123/CR123A) will be more comfortable for longer periods.
I don't think so the clip isn't reverse able.
The clip is not reversible but it is head-up carry... meaning head-out when on a hat.
Unless you were wanting to illuminate your own face, you'd be set.
