Re: Will you support my 1st light? "Project Genesis"

+1 for 21700!
I believe this battery size is even more versatile than the ubiquitous 18650 with the 'gas tank' of a 26650.

I've been using this IMR cell in my Acebeam T-36 and I'm very impressed with performance and capacity:
21700 Aceabeam IMR21700NP-510A 5100mAh High Discharge Protected Button Top battery recommended for Acebeam high discharge flashlights.
Specifications:
Typical Capacity: 5100 mAh
Nominal Voltage: 3.7V
Discharge End Voltage: 2.5V
Standard Charge Current: 1.5A
Max Continuous Discharging Current: 20A
Weight (max): 72.5g
Dimensions:
74.8.8mm (L) x 21.4 mm (D)

Will this fit in Project Genesis?

I don't think the Acebeam 21700 can be 5100mah with 20A current. The best 21700 right now is the Sanyo 21700 rewrapped by Vapcell, which makes 5000mah at rated at 15A.

Indeed that's weird. In addition to that, there is no well known 5100 mAh 21700 cell on the market. I wouldn't expect Acebeam to lie so blatantly.....so I have some doubts, maybe they deliver 5100 at 0.1A down to 2V and maybe they can deliver 20A until the flashlight overheats...maybe they are even marginally better than that...

So that cell won't squeeze into the Opus at all?

Feel free to send a tester my way. I have a predilection for confounding electromagnetics. If it endures my proximity, it should be bomber.

Re: Will you support my 1st light? "Project Genesis"

I just found this thread. Your project looks very interesting. I'm curious if you considered Kickstarter or similar, as you mentioned not being able to offer a clicky-sized wheel cap in low quantities. Would KS provide added volume to enable more options?

On a related note, if someone REALLY wanted to, could they just machine the fins off the wheel cap? I'm guessing there is nothing protruding beyond the radius of the inner portion between the fins. This also presumes the material thickness at that point is enough to maintain durability. I would guess it is, as you would have designed it to take the torque of one of the fins being bent/twisted in an accident.

Best wishes! This seems exciting!
