Hi guys!
Here a just a couple of pics I have shot. Lighting is natural, quite neutral and cool.
What you are looking at is an industrial chunk of solid titanium
Serial #0202 and the rail
Tailstanding will be a piece of cake
Wow the guy wasn't kidding when he said the emitter would be perfectly centered
Machining is as smooth as it can get, yet is not buffed out so it keeps 100% of it "crisp" look
Absolutely no trace of any foreign stuff on the reflector or glass, no fingerprint, no visible dust
Now, my few thoughts :
- The feel of the wheel is superb. It plays a huge role in the fact that you can't put this flashlight down. You just keep it in your hand, and clic, clic, clic... it's so addictive as it has already been pointed out. But it really is! The response is firm and the clic idealy audible. Less would not be as good. The sound and feel are just perfect, you've got a clear feedback of the level change.
- It is realatively heavy but totally acceptable IMO for a 2 cells torch. It also gives a solid feel that what you have in hand is built to last.
- the tailcap is a great piece of design. The locking mechanism seems undestructable. Again, closing the tailcap really gives a firm and positive feedback with a clear "clic". You won't be asking yourself it the door is properly closed or not. Spring tension seems very good too.
I don't want to go on with a list of everything that is fine and refined about the Spy, a lot has been said already. It is my first SPY and will be the last flashlight of all I've got that I will let go if I'm forced to. This 007 is a keeper and I really doubt any of them will show in B/S/T unless in a case involving financial issues for the seller. I could be wrong, but heck I would be extremely surprised if someone didn't like his SPY.
Now, what could be improved. Well, not much, and I have to dig in the smallest details to find any idea of improvement.
- although there is zero axial play in the button, when it is on any of the 6 levels, it has a small rotary play of a few degrees. I
think (I am not positive) that I would prefer no play at all once it has reached a level. That said, as it is you can't have the light flicker between two levels even if you try to turn the button very slowly, and I'm not sure this would still be the case. What I'm saying here could be BS and the more I think about it the more I believe there is no other way to make the flicker impossible.
- the teflon ring would be less visible if it had a smaller OD
And... that's all I have been able to find so far. I even feel ridiculous to post my poor findings
Cheers and long life to the 007. I am not aware of any other custom flashlight that is as close to perfection as this one.
