Have you tried a fresh set of batteries? My Jet beam does a similar thing when the batteries are low.

Looks like thats what it was. Seems kinda stupid though. With the "weak " batteries light output was still much brighter than the low mode (50 lumens?) You would think that it should still be able to switch modes.

Perfect all around light, got mine few days ago and still running the first set of batts, great throw, and definitely cool white.
One question, why does it have that protuberances on both head and body?
Here´s a pic of what I mean.
