gollum... your post #54 above caused havoc, and I've had to edit it.

Please ensure you put a line break between photos, and between photos and text, otherwise they all appear horizontally. This causes a big nuisance with sideways scrolling being required.

oops sorry will remember that cheers DM51

hey fred I have an idea as to how much that would cost ...
I was quoted for a similar material ring in size 11 which is 20mm approx
I was keen to buy but the price was too much

if you make this light it will be something to behold

needless to sat there will be no heavy knurling or deep grooves :)

I have actually commissioned a maker to produce a precious metal Mokume Gane tube for me. He's very sure that he will be able to come up with an OD of 21mm and enough length to make one CR123 light. The end of the battery tube will have to be soldered in place, of course. I believe the blend will be silver, white palladium gold and red gold.

...

Needless to say, I'm not planning a production run of precious metal Mokume Gane lights.

That's great news! :twothumbs

Even though a light like this will be very expensive I think there is a small market for very high end custom lights made from exotic materials. Obviously those are not meant to be users but rather collectors objects (cf. the market for expensive custom knives).

At least I would be interested very much, but I have to say that due to certain financial limitations ;) my interest would be for a light the size of a Petit Killer, not a CR123 light. In that case the light actually would be used daily as a piece of jewellery in necklace duty......

Silver, white palladium gold and red gold, I have to say that this combination certainly has a very high drool factor. I'd better start saving right now :D

gollum,

Yes, but at least for the time being, there's no need for me to solicit donations.

There are much more worthy causes to support, should the CPF membership feel so inclined.

I'm just thankful that a bunch of them do buy my lights.
