Any guesses as to why the 519a was used in the 1xAA offering, rather than a 1x18650 platform?
the drivers in the 18650 lights do not support 3V LEDs such as the 519a.

The SC64 LE did, it came with LH351d, so it could be swapped to 519a, by Bob_McBob..

but the SC64 LE is discontinued and Zebra in their infinite wisdom has decided to stop using 3V drivers in their 18650 offerings.

My understanding is Nichia's x19 LEDs, 219, 319, 519, etc., are for lower voltages, the first number designates size. You can't have a 7V 1000Lm 219b. It will fry on the boost circuit of Liion, though can be direct drive on Liion.

The 719A is 6.76V fwiw.

Hmmm... ZL site had been saying that the new SC53c would ship on March 23.
Now it says nothing.
Well, it's never good advice to set your watch by ZL's production schedule....

Originally said the 27th. However once an item is on back order from Zebralight it's only usually a few days until it ships. My sc53c N is out for delivery already. It shipped Friday

fwiw, the SC64 LE is now on backorder w LH351d.. which means those who want a 519a version can still get one modded by Bob_McBob..

guessing Zebra found a few more 3V drivers... Last Call! get em while you can ;-)

I don't have much to compare it to. But from my past experience with the AA models I'd say output on H1 is around 275 lumens on a primary. Similar to the previous models. It's a nice upgrade from what was offered in the past. Definitely a win for Zebra going the 519a route. However, I'd rather it be 4500k-5000k but that's just my personal preference

I have one of the SC64w Hi models, and to my mind it's about perfection in an EDC.
But that's partly because the output is 1300 on H1 instead of 828 on H1 with the SC64 LE.
Yeah, I'm kind of a tint-snob, but not 462 lumens worth of tint snob! I really like the fact that the Hi is a high output model, and that it also punches pretty well because of the dedoming.
So... has anyone had Bob_McBob put in a dedomed XHP35 in order to reproduce a SC64w Hi?
Or is there some other emitter swap that will give me comparable lumens and candela?
Or should I wait and hope that they'll come out with a better performing SC64 with a 6v driver?
I guess I'm saying -- I'd love to have a second SC64w Hi. But I'm not that keen on a new SC64 LE at 828 lumens.

Check out the runtime charts of SC64w Hi here and compare to same for SC64c LE here. Unless you're actively cooling the light while in use, the only difference is slightly brighter but similarly rapidly dimming light for literally a few minutes before holding regulation just under 400Lm. Actually, the SC64c LE drops down to a higher level, just under 500Lm (60% of 828Lm is 496.8Lm).
