Got to 4ºF briefly, this morning. It's up to a balmy 10ºF now.
Whatever is on the ground from the last snows are just hardening. Each day, tougher and tougher stuff.
Drove the car over to a park, this morning. It remains unplowed, along the few small lanes that go through the place. About 9-10" of snow. Car handled it fine. Nobody else was out, at the park. Nice and peaceful, actually. Quiet, as most are still indoors 'round the roaring fire.
For whatever it's worth: When I wrote the above words, the spell-checker highlighted the word "unplowed" and prompted me to change it to "plowed". Yeah, right. Little does it know ... SkyNet hasn't consumed everything yet. That's a relief!
Now and then, just occasionally, on the sunny side of the room some of the crud slides off. That's promising. (Grasping at straws, I know, as it's still just February 1st. Punxsutawney Phil can go wriggle back into that burrow, I think, despite the indicators.)

Don't plan on dying in this miserable joke of a city.
But the place I'll one day move to, has worse Winters.
(It also has a ready-made support system waiting for me.)
So, in two years my front-wheel drive sedan will be 20 years-old.
My next vehicle will have AWD. Also, no way am I sacrificing that sweet 0-60mph. time of 6.5 seconds. So, that considerably narrows my choices.
But the place I'll one day move to, has worse Winters.
(It also has a ready-made support system waiting for me.)

Actually...there was ice on I-4 Wednesday morning. Highway patrol shut down a few lanes until they could get a truck to spray some brine on it.
Windchill down to 14F here last night, actual temp down to 24F. It's 28F outside right now.

^I think I must have all of Florida's weather. It's been 80F the past couple of days. 70s the next couple and forecast back up in the 80s again. Nice 'til thursday.
I'm not complaining mind you. Just doesn't usually get this warm until 'spring'. Orange blossoms are already blooming.

Today, it's almost up to freezing already. Supposed to reach into the high 30s by mid-afternoon. We'll see.
Would be nice to be able to pummel some of the remaining hard-as-nails snow piles and icing that's still around. Tired of slipping all over the place.
