Compare and Contrast two versions of XTAR 1.5V AA LiIon with USB-C

Just to clarify, a cell that holds a constant voltage will improve run time in a regulated light, like my zl hc53c. But in an unregulated light, it will have a shorter run time. Regulated light = constant output level for varying cell voltage. Higher voltage means lower current for a given...

    The Official Zebralight Thread

If the light in question can run off of a rechargeable Li cell between 3 and 4.2 volts your point is spot on. My light doesn't function normally with a rechargeable Li cell. I was addressing jon_slider's comments regarding rechargeable 1.5v Li cells and eneloop cells.

    The Official Zebralight Thread

@Beard Man , I am assuming you are pursuing an eneloop setup for your zebra. I don't write this to change your mind, just to provide a bit more information. I have done some testing on my HC53 at the lower output settings, and have found that it appears the light regulates the output to the...

    Peak aficionados, show and tell!

Have you found it to be pretty finicky in terms of getting the light level you want?

I'm pretty sure it requires the delryn spacer kit, but others have reported it works with different cell sizes

    Peak aficionados, show and tell!

When you say execution is not as good as the concept, is this because the QTC is just too finicky? I actually have no plan to use a 17500 cell, but cr123 or AA/14500. Perhaps just cr123 / RCR16340, and get the simple Logan, very nice form factor. I think buttery smooth would be good for a...

    Peak aficionados, show and tell!

I'm considering jumping in and getting a Logan 17500. I love the idea of continuously variable output, multiple cell configurations, and getting a unique light. One thing that has held me back previously is reading about the QTC wearing out. Is this a real and common thing, or perhaps just...

    Simple runtime battery tests.

Which XTAR cells are you testing? testing at 100mA is likely more realistic for these little guys, but I would compare to how XTAR tests them.

    Minimum usable illumination -- ideas?

Interesting, I find indoors wall bounce makes lights look brighter, so lower levels work well. We're all different though . . .

LED lights "as dangerous as cigarettes"

I thought this would be a discussion about how addictive buying LED flashlights can be . . . .

What Are Some Good Multi-Purpose Battery Chargers That Are Also Power Banks?

I bought the Zanflare C4 several years ago. It's decent enough and does power bank duty. Don't expect extreme accuracy on the changing/resistance numbers.

    Minimum usable illumination -- ideas?

Most days we weren't hiking at night. We did get in pretty late one night towards the end of the trip though. I didn't set up my tent unless I thought it would rain, or it was going to be super cold due to being at higher elevation. Cooking at dusk or night with firefly mode was easy. Walking in...
