Dogs vs people? Which do you prefer?

it's sad that only recently we have begun to realize that dogs have more sentience than we cared to admit.
If you think that's interesting, you should spend time around rabbits.
Here's an interesting one from Japan:
「風邪でぐったりしてたらうさぎさんが気を使って牧草もってきてくれた」
translates to: When I was wiped out with a cold, my rabbit thoughtfully brought me hay.

Think about the thought process behind this. It's not trivial.

Not even a contest, dogs of course, and throw in a cat too,

I had dogs, and I had cats too, but the most fun is when you have both, When I had a dog and a cat, those two were occupied all day breaking each others balls, it was hilarious to watch, but they were best friends slept together curled up, when a cat did something and I was yelling at him the dog always came to rescue the cat, same the other way around. you do not see much of that with people, unless they are close siblings. and even then, close people drift apart with time, animals never do that.

People that know me know that one of my favorite sayings is "I hate people!". People are vile, disgusting, self-absorbed, unbelievably stupid creatures! While I don't have a dog, I would much prefer one as a companion over any human. Signed...Single at 52...👀

Carry On!

Same here. Animals are innocent spirits. Humans not so much. This is my favorite speech regarding humans:

Aww! I love when dogs are interested in what we’re doing. My dog follows me around the same way. You wonder what they’re thinking, don’t you?

They also see stuff we don't / can't. When we were living on a remote location. While walking, Baby would suddenly stop. Then stare at something. Much like if you were standing directly in front of her.

I'd look back, asking her, who you looking at? She'd be lock into whomever it was (I mean locked). After 10, or 15 seconds. She'd look at me (as in what you doing standing there) then kept walking. Yeah, like nothing happened. ... lol

There's more but you get the idea. ....

One more; While approaching the secondary gate one night. Calvin ran to the gate. Couple of deep barks, then stared through the gate.

When I reached the gate. I saw the outline of two guys hurrying to their truck. Heard two doors slamming shut, then dust as they drove off. ... lol

Got'ah love'um! ... 🙂

I think I posted this photo. But this was the gate. Why wasn't Harlee there? .. It was early in the AM, so she was crashed in the MH. ... lol.

BTW, that's Harlee in the photo.

Side note: People do not read signs, or they think it's a redundant thing (as in it's just a sign, but no one to enforce it, sorta thing).

And these reflective signs cost me a bunch!

Their eyesight isn’t actually that good but is better than ours in the dark. Their sense of smell and hearing though is much better. It was probably sound that your dog picked up so keenly. Mine, at our cabin, will sit on the back patio and suddenly do the same. I’ll look and look and see nothing nor hear anything. A minute later 2 or 3 deer will appear to me. She sensed them before I could. Very cool.

My dog did that stare into nothing at home many times, as mentioned above dogs vision is not that good, we see much better even in a dark, but they can smell much better, they can hear much better, their whiskers sense air movement and change in air pressure, and god knows what else they have that we do not know about.
