Keychain Light Auditions

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

A model that kind of intrigues me, but I cannot quite convince myself to get it, is the Rovyvon "Angel Eyes" series, that combines an on-board Li-Ion battery with a replaceable AAA, like so:

On the one hand, cool concept: I like the combo of easy USBC rechargeabilty with easy use of regular AAAs if that's what you can scrounge. But the package looks bulky, and in particular it looks bulkier than a decent AAA light and a decent small rechargeable (such as the A5 shown above). Having both lights unitized might be better for keeping them together, but it makes a bulkier object as a whole.
Also: not cheap!
Anybody have experience with them?
Triple fuel!

Wow. That Rovy is one ugly light as far as I'm concerned.

I used the i1r2 for awhile, until 8 discovered the Skilhunt EK1. Same sized internal battery, smaller in the keychain, same 2 stage and same USBC charging, however, with high CRI.

Now, I have a bunch of these oLights collecting dust.
Are the threads tighter on the Skilhunt? i1r2 too easy to turn.

I just pre-ordered the new Nitecore TINI3. It offers the 3 temperature feature which I think is a real game changer.

I decided I wasn’t going to allow Fenix to torture my eyes anymore with the horrendous warnings all over the E01 V2. I have a dremel…..and I’m not afraid to use it. I probably should find something that will strip this anodizing, but in the meantime there’s this…..

Good for you! It was too small for a dang billboard anyway.

That turned out nicely. What type of bit did you use?
Not sure what they call this one, but here’s a photo. After trying a handful of different lights for keychain duty, I’m surprised that this one is rising to the top. I bought it on a whim and figured I wouldn’t like it much. But turns out I’m appreciating the different output levels as opposed to some of the single level lights that I auditioned. Can’t do the e3a or i3e, at least without having them modded. Too bright and too little runtime. Now i could live with the 15 lumen Vinh modded i3e on the keychain, but ive got that one on standby in the house right now.

Looks like a nice little abrasive wheel. You did a great job of keeping the curved surfaces intact. I probably would have ground flat spots if I tried to do that.
