As a drinker of black coffee, (european black, not american) I can say that this is...verifiably feasible.

European black is MUCH darker and richer. Not for everyoneWhat's the difference between European black and American black?
European Black is better educated, and doesn't blame all its problems on Whitey. :grin2:What's the difference between European black and American black?

A barista I know put it succinctly - "Starbucks burns their beans."Like Italian or French type roasts?
I like dark roasts except for starbucks' versions. They tend to be too bitter for me. I don't know if it's the type of coffee they're using? I think they are just over roasting it.
Awhile back I was told that Starbucks made a conscious decision to roast their beans a little too much because it was harder to produce a consistent flavor from batch to batch with lighter roasts. A burnt roast will always have a consistent (and bitter) taste.^they do burn their beans LOL
"Dark roast" can be a relative description. Surely, tastes differ from person to person. I think most ppl actually like medium roasted coffee. It allows the flavor of the bean to do its thing. I have yet to find a dark roast that doesn't contain strong notes of charcoal in it. Yuck. I'm a light-to-medium roast fan myself.

Not all teabags were designed for hot water...I'm reminded that not all CPF members share my sense of humor, so I'll be careful about what I post in the Cafe, as opposed to the Politics, Religion, & Controversies threads.
My sense of humor gets me in hot water faster than a visit to the Sentinelese.![]()
