I first learned about dog booties I think watching Nutnfancy videos on youtube. He had/has? a series of adventure videos in which he took his dog with him, and he advised about putting the booties on in snow to prevent ice buildup between the dog's toes. I thought that was a super idea. I learned a lot from that guy's videos--he was very popular, but recently I have read negative comments about the guy (*cough* Monocrom) and it has been a long time since I have watched any of his videos, so I don't know. I guess I should take the time to watch some of his new stuff and see for myself. :grin2:

Saw a few photos of dogs feet having to walk on hot pavement, and it's not pretty.

Here's a couple of photos of Harlee and Calvin wearing their booties. Both, RIP. They also had booties with soles on them (similar to tennis, or running shoes).

Those look pretty decent quality without the issue of causing chafing on their toes/knuckles/wrists...what brand are they?

I had around 5 sets of 4 for the dog/s. But sorry, can't remember the brand, it's been quite awhile ago. Checked my Amazon list, and it's not there, so could be Chewy, but not certain. Other then the velcro strap not lasting/held their grip after a two maube three months, the booties were great. Once the velcro started to lose their grip, I placed a stretch bandage tape over the velcro which worked out well. The booties was lined with a felt material, so it was soft on their feet. I wish I could remember the brand.

Since I no longer have a dog/s. I donated all their stuff to a charity group, who gives stuff to the homeless. Then threw all the well used stuff in the trash.

PS I did a quick search on Amazon, but didn't see it.

Btw, I just noticed the brand is on the strap in Harlee's photo. It's "Pawtector"

Btw, these botties (ones without the soles, as shown in the photos) are good up to a certain temp on asphalt. Since I worked nights, The photos of the two are taken around mid morning, If for some reason we're out past that time. I'd see them lifting their feet, as the asphalt is getting too hot. At which time, it's in the motorhome we go! ... :yellowlaugh:

Don't forget that a mist of rubbing alcohol will drop a mosquito before she can bite you. I mentioned it in another threat, but I'm reposting to help get the word out. We now keep these alcohol spray bottles ($1.42, btw) in the car and around the house and immediately drop any mosquito which dares invade our space. Lately at the fiancé's place, the mosquitoes have decided to hide in the bathroom, only revealing themselves when you find yourself in a position least able to defend yourself. The spray bottle fixes that problem nicely.

Oh I'll never forget that, I've been an advocate of spraying alcohol on skeeters for many years. Had far more luck with alcohol (even as diluted as 46%) than any brand insecticide. In mist mode, one puff drenches the bug's wings, and a second one after it crash lands finishes the job. And even if you don't find it after it falls, you'll find it shambling around unable to fly.

Nowadays I have so much experience with those dual-mode trigger sprays that I prefer using stream mode for the extra range, and I rarely miss with it. It's even better because it also works on flies and cockroaches, and one single puff kills the insect.

So, I feel more of a steward rather than owner of it and feel obligated to share it, so I want to do a neighborhood movie night. The second floor of my condo happens to have a large plain white area which actually measures out to 16:9. and around the same time, I was given a pair of Mackie SRM350 speakers someone wasn't using anymore.

I managed to snag a 6000 lumen laser projector (1920x1200 native resolution) for peanuts. Only 100 hours on it. I don't think the seller knew what they had. So, I feel more of a steward rather than owner of it and feel obligated to share it, so I want to do a neighborhood movie night. The second floor of my condo happens to have a large plain white area which actually measures out to 16:9. and around the same time, I was given a pair of Mackie SRM350 speakers someone wasn't using anymore.

Don't know what the city uses, but during the season. They have what looks similar to water trucks spraying stuff out the back while drive down neighborhoods.

Uh, be careful about getting the license to show a movie in a public way. Your DVDs that you buy are only for showing in your home, and not to the public. My missus worked with the local PD on doing a public shown movie in the park during their Night Out Against Crime, and licensing can be a real can of worms. :(

Don't trust the "save"" button. I was tinkering with a program today, spent some time troubleshooting it, finally got it sort of working, then "saved" it for later review. When I went back to look at it again later, :poof: it was gone. Even the zip file that contained the original code was trashed. Now I have to start over. I have no idea what went wrong.

Good luck to you. Most likely nothing will be made of it, but you never know these days. Every DVD that I remember has an FBI warning at the beginning of the video. I'd hate to hear that you got arrested and/or fined for trying to entertain the neighbors.

The other day I tried swapping the diffused 2700k lights in my home office to Sylvania TruWave 3500k clear filament style bulbs. It made the room look livelier, but after a short time I started getting a dull headache, followed by a little bit of nausea. I did not expect this at all. I switched them back and the problem went away.

Apparently the sudden switch in color temperature, CRI and sharper shadows (and maybe different flicker rate?) from the non-diffused bulbs caused just enough disorientation to trigger my symptoms.

Now I need quantify exactly which of these parameters was the culprit as I'd still like to raise the color temp a bit.
