Doubtful. Market forces say they will make a new version.

They already have the Rev 3 Copper version out. They seem to typically discontinue a generation and then come out with a new one later with a different UI or emitter.

For entertainment purposes only...

Facts:
Maratacs are made by Lumintop
The Titanium Maratac AAA is sold out at County Comm
There are still Copper AAA Maratacs in stock at County Comm
Massdrop just completed a group buy of up to 500 Copper AAA Maratacs, due to ship Feb 16
There are Brass AAA Maratacs due to restock at County Comm on March 14th
There is a Maratac Copper AA Poll on Massdrop with 262 votes (not yet an official group buy)

Predictions, Guesses, and Speculation:
After the Copper AAA Maratacs ship for the Massdrop order on Feb 16, County Comm will have funds available for the Maratac Copper AA to be produced as a Rev3, with the same pill as the latest AAA Maratac. I expect the AA model to be available by end of June.

Im guessing Lumintop requires a minimum order of 250 units. I think County Comm orders batches of 500. Since there are over 250 votes for the AA Maratac at Massdrop, I think its almost a done deal and now its just a matter of managing the cash flows for production costs.

When the Titanium Maratac AAA sold out, it made funds available for a Brass Run. When the Copper AAA run out, it will free funds for a Copper AA. There May also be another batch of Stainless AAA, and possibly Stainless AA..

I expect the Massdrop price for the AA Copper Maratac to be $55 shipped, and $75 plus shipping from County Comm.

Verification:
Watch Massdrop, if the Poll for the AA Maratac Copper becomes a group buy, it suggests County Comm has agreed to bankroll an order.

Maybe this is a job for hbk_rey. I would love to see a Reylight 219b Clicky AA!

Copper Maratac AA is now available, but it has PWM.
See County Com and Massdrop for $22 less, note with Massdrop you have to wait a month, they wont ship til end November.

Yep. I'm modding a copper maratac AA at the moment. I didn't really look very closely at anything before I started modding. Here is what I found.

1. there is bad pwm on the driver. I think it was less than 1Khz. I didn't try to estimate. Just thought it was annoying.
2. The levels are l-m-h with low being too high. It could be 5 lumens as advertised. I was just annoyed and stripped it. No mode memory.
3. The clip is not good. It seems too short. I remember the clip my old maratac AA clip being a bit longer. This one is seems too short with the "clipping part" of the clip riding in the forward groove instead of the on the fat part of the body as expected. I'll try posting a picture later.
4. There is not much glue, perhaps none (on my sample). The pill came out without needing and heat.
5. It fits a 14.5mm driver. I intend to fit in a ReyLight Pineapple driver when I get a few. See my review of the ReyLight Pineapple for more information.

Notice where the clip rides (near the head) here?

The copper one has a clip that is a few milimeters shorter and rides in the forward groove. Ugh.

I don't like hearing the pwm is bad on the new Copper AA. I just ordered 2 from the Massdrop. D'OH! I really need to learn how to do LED and driver swaps.

If it is true that the "Rev. 4" AA Maratacs have PWM (like Rev.2 and Rev.3) then that is unfortunate. On the other AA Maratac thread no one confirmed this either way, but the expectation was that the new drivers were constant current.

Hey gunga & jon_slider... do you have a Rev.4 AA in hand to confirm it has PWM? One way to tell Rev.3 from Rev.4 is that the Rev.4 driver has reverse polarity protection which should be visually identifiable, while Rev.3 does not.

Had so much hope for this light. :/ otoh, if it uses PWM maybe there is a better chance that 14500 3v/4v cells may work without destroying the driver. Actually, that isn't strictly true, but follows from Maratac's history.

I just modded a brand new Rev 4 from county comm. Pwm. Not good.

Jon got this info from me.

Edit. I'll need to confirm the polarity protection.

From county comm a few weeks ago. Rev 3?
No reverse polarity protection.

I see nothing to suggest reverse polarity protection. And I haven't seen it first hand, just info from the description on the product page:

While it is possible for the circuit proper to have the protection designed in, I would expect a less expensive way to go for reverse polarity protection is how Fenix does it, with raised areas around the positive contact which prevents physical contact with the negative end of a cell. I honestly don't know, gunga.
