I would add the following lessons learned:

Standard belt clip designs flex upward during the draw, making it difficult to withdraw the flashlight.

I have found that the standard belt clips from Thors Hammer work extremely well when used with a sturdy 1.5" dual layer belt made to carry the weight of a portable hole puncher. With these belts, the Thors Hammer Custom Leather belt clip has no flex at all. I prefer mine tapered in the front to 1.25" so that they look normal to people in major urban areas. Three brands I have found work well for me include:

The Beltman - About $125 for plain black

Milt Sparks - about $150 for plain black

Thors Hammer Custom Leather - about $200 for plain black.

The belt is the number 1 neglected and overlooked item in the weapon system... but I digress.

Magnetic snaps are the weakest. Line 24 are bigger and stronger than line 20 snaps. Pull the Dot (Military) and Lift the Dot (Military) are the strongest of the closures though Lift the Dot is a bit large. Turn button fasteners are the strongest (I don't use them). Sam Brown posts are very secure depending on the size. They are for when one wants to be vewy vewy quiet before going BANG! Lift the Dot are also nearly silent.

Am I the only one who uses a belt with an AustriAlpine buckle? I don't think strength or reliability is any kind of problem there. Good enough for mountain climbing gear, good enough to strap astronauts into their seats on the space shuttle, good enough for my belt.

I have still yet to get myself set up for posting pictures here. But if you just google austrialpine the belts will come up immediately. Just make sure it's an austrialpine that you're looking at and not a knock off that just looks similar.

Does anyone has a recommendation for a cordura holster that fits a HDS (with CR123 tube). I do not want leather for this particular usecase.

See post #280 in this thread. It is a pocket holster and it works. I have one. Only downside is that it is a little hard to draw and re-holster with one hand. It can be done though.

Stickyholsters also makes a single mini magazine pouch for $16.95 that may work. There is a video on the first page of the website that demonstrates the single magazine pouch. I have not used one but it looks like it may work well with a HDS light.

There are many... depends on what you want. Want dependable do some research. I m not sure if Dan makes with cordura... but it would be dependable if he did. I can make nylon to fit but haven't. If you just want something that'll do and quality and fit doesn't matter there are several mass produced under $20. The list is long and the countries of origin are many.

Here in Europe I m not sure but my experience here finding quality has been less than satisfactory so I get everything I can from the states.

I don't... not until I can find Cordura that isn't treated in an inhumane way... maybe free range Cordurs, but the people raising Cordur right now... it's just bordering on plastic cruelty. One of the many reasons I don't order Cordura in restaurants. It's also why I don't use nylon. Lot's of Cordurs are caught in nets made for nylon. Despicable.

I did have a postal employee once ask me if I used "vegan leather". I gave her the same look people probably had on their face when reading the above.

Had a lady in front of me at subway the other day raising hell because they didn't have veggie burger. Veggie burger in southwest Virginia. She was getting really rude with the little girl at the register like it was her fault. I looked at her and said ma'am this is Scott county Virginia. They eat cows here and some humans. I don't know where you are from but you are probably safer there. [emoji2]

At first thanks for all ideas posted here and also the PMs! :twothumbs

The idea with cordura is because I know the Surefire Holsters. I have a few one. From what I know the Surefire Holsters are done with Cordura - that is the reason I mentioned Cordura. But an good Quality Nylon or something similar would be fine too. The reason for this type of material is it is durable, and easy to clean. And there is no problem at all if it is really wet.

And since here is the largest communitiy of people having HDS Lights I was asking here for a good fitting holster.

Ok, this is on the other end of the spectrum compared to the nice stuff posted here, but I found this thing for $14 at the Vans Store. Works good for pocket carry. Clicky, Delrin Battery Locker, SAK.
