Here are my requirements for a new tactical light. Does it even exist?

Mostly for concealed carry. I currently have a Thrunite TN-12, and while I like the lumen output, I don't like the clicky switch or the side button to change modes. I was hoping I could find something in that size range or smaller. The size doesn't bother me when I carry it in cargo shorts, etc...

Here are my requirements for a new tactical light. Does it even exist?

I figured this would be the best place to ask. I'm looking to get a dedicated tactical everyday carry light. I would like something as close to these requirements as possible. Thank for any responses. 5 inches long or less 1 inch or less in diameter (including head size) Momentary only switch...

    SERIOUS light for Airline Pilot:

Yes, the 14500 is the same as a AA, and you are correct that you can use a regular AA in a pinch.

Recommend me a new EDC light

Have you looked at the Zebralight sc62? If you can overlook the lack of a tail switch, it has 1 button level adjustment, tail stands, and has a pretty deep carry pocket clip. The sc62 models are on sale right now, and are being discontinued for the brand new sc63 models, which are available...

Zebralight plans MKIII's and SC63 release for this year

I don't know, I think a 63 with an option to lock/unlock a tail switch that would allow momentary only , that is programmable, would be pretty neat. I've always wanted a high output tactical and edc light in one.

These are going to be great lights, once the apps come out. It's still a neat light without the apps.

Really looking forward to these new lights. I've held off buying the 62 just to see what the 63 offers.

    SERIOUS light for Airline Pilot:

As mentioned above, a USB charged light might be an option. You could also look into a diffuser as an option for your red light needs, although you'd need to keep track of your diffuser. You might want to have a spare or two in your bag. Just a suggestion.

Dad hacked up my Christmas gift to him opening it

Did he say anything about it bothering him ? If not, it was his present and I wouldn't worry about it. If he did, then replace the light with a new one.
