4 26650's will fit in a 4D cell Maglite. It helps center the cell in 1 inch PVC. I had trouble with some cells nicked in pack separation. Ruined one cell from heat as dead shorts produce 200 amps. I flip the spring and cut some off and put a flat bolt in to give a surface that won't dig into the base of the cell. That will cause a short. Low spring tension is OK. Helps conductivity to use a Dremel to remove anodization inside the cap.
