Best LED and driver for two or or three NiMH D cells?

Hi, I am curious on what the best LED and LED driver for two or three NiMH D cell batteries.
I prefer a single LED chip on a 20mm PCB, and a LED driver with a 17mm PCB. It must have reverse polarity protection. Modes: High, medium,low, strobe and off.

So, any suggestions?
