Re: Best 18650 EDC :)

does the diffused or domed lens appear brighter?
which lens give the greater flood angle? What I would like to do with this light is tail stand it right next to me on a desk while I do some some closeup work 8 inches from the light using that side light.
Which lens would have the spill and flood to light up that close of a area?

I'm just about done picking which add ons, choosing the right side lens is my last step.

I think the lens is brighter
Diffuser has greater beam angle

Re: Best 18650 EDC :)

ya I looked up his video and others just to try and see the beam of the side emitter. Which is why I wanna know if vinhs diffused lens would work better for my needs. I think you are right though, but I still will wait for vinh to confirm.
I hope the diffused lens don't take too much lumens ...

Beam profile is more important than lumen lost IMO

Great! I was hoping the diffuser would give a wider beam profile. Besides ,the u3 gave so much more lumens over xpg that I can afford some loss.

Anyways i I have a fully stock c22c on the way so It's better to have something different.
Ill take $56 current boost
$15 U3 front emitter dome on
$15 xpl side emitter 5000k
please switch side emitter done lens with your diffuser lens.

this is my first light that I have doubles of. Yes, I like this light thaaaat much haha
I'll keep the stock version in my car.

"please switch side emitter done lens with your diffuser lens."

This is not an available option...If you want I can fit diffuser vynl over the stock lens.

ah man. Does the c21c one not fit or did you run out? Can I pay for one to order more?
or does that diffused vinyl do the exact same thing? In a way, it looks like the vinyl might be a better option because the domed lens might give even greater beam vs a flat lens? Will the vinyl still go on clean on a domed lens?

btw, payment sent

I would have the same questions: Considering using the side light for photography: Is there a recognizable beam pattern? If yes, does the vinyl prevent that pattern?
And is XPL 5000K good for that? Is it anyway near Nichia?

Sorry for the many questions, but I did not find answers to that questions even with extensive search on Google.

Re: Best 18650 EDC :)

I'm curious about the driver/memory issue. Switching between the front and side LEDs wipes out memory...so basically, unless you are using only one LED, it always starts on high. This for me is a problem in an EDC light, and makes me reluctant to use both...I end up using only one or the other, and for me that renders the best aspect of the light almost useless.

Do you have any plans to work around that issue?

This is one of those "what could have been" lights. I am gonna try it out because it is a compact two-in-one light.

Just found out something new. You can turn on both emitters at the same time by double clicking then hold.
nice!

^^^^^

That info[and more] was provided by Vinh in post #1 with the "Factory info link": mouse over "Operation".

http://www.sunwayman.com/fo/pd_137_en.html

It is nice that they BOTH come on, However it did NOT answer my question[and I have the light!]!

WITH BOTH LED'S ACTIVATED CAN YOU TURN EITHER LED OFF OR DO YOU HAVE TO TURN THE LIGHT OFF COMPLETELY AND START AGAIN? With my "expanded"[!!!] knowledge and vigorous testing it seems like the latter is the only way!

+ $3 Diffused side lens for soft flood

Much softer flood beam. Soft around the beam rim and soft on the objects. I like!

If you want Nichia to guarantee the high CRI that can be done also.

XPL is preferred by me due to brightness and I like the tint just fine.

diffused lens might be better for photography as the casted light is softer.
