What's the quality of Klarus lights?
From the XT11S, it's probably the best quality light I have. It was rugged as hell, but didn't do it by reducing itself to not having any features. It was a solid light that has never malfunctioned and still gave me a tonne of features. I used to rotate my lights (my girlfriend picked out a light to take each day for me), but since it arrived I have trouble reaching for something else.

I've got one of the Mi7 lights heading to me to review, so it'll be fun to see if they pull off the quality again. My main concerns are pretty much accidental activations (like the Olight S10 before the switch change) and the light overheating on turbo with a 14500.

May I know why you choice this lumens and what situations will be used of that 1/20/300 or 1/15/300 lumens?

Well, there is both a mathematical reason and a practical reason, I suppose ....

Let's use ~ 5 / 100 / 300 (700) vs ~ 1 / 20 / 300 , to simplify the math.

Your output spacing is ~ 20x between L and M, but 3x (7x) between M and H.

My output spacing would be 20x / 15x instead, which gives a lower low, and a more useful medium, with greater separation from "turbo" (high).

As a practical matter, with small "pocket" torches, > 90% ( probably even over 95% ? ) of my needs and uses will be for < 50 lumens.

I'm guessing here as to the logic of 1-15-300 spacing. Since our eyes see lumens as the square root of the light meter readings, the square root of (15/1) = 3.9 and the square root of (300/15) = 4.5. So from that perspective, the spacing is fairly uniform as our eyes would perceive it.

You got one already? I thought they weren't being shipped out until Saturday:thinking:
It looks so nice! What a beautiful colour.
Will you be posting your impression of the light after trying it out? :)

Does anybody know if this light requires buttontop batteries?

I found a German review of the Mi7 today. Here's the part about batteries translated via Google service:

"It fit many types of batteries , including AW 14500 , Efest IMR 14500 , even the long Keep Power 840 mAh 14500 fit through the spring in the air easily .
Also, all tested by me batteries fit Eneloop as discounter NiMH alike . Even flat top batteries - the Efest IMR are those - can be used at the positive pole without a magnet."

After seeing this review, I ordered the Orbtronic protected 14500 today (they're the same as the KeepPower). It seems that the Mi7 accepts batteries of all sizes, which is great news. :)

The ultrafire cells I have are button top and work fine. (I know, I know, just had one laying around that surprisingly still works lol. I have some AW14500s on order) I did have t cut a little of the plastic cover off the bottom because the spring wasn't making full contact. No fault of the light, just the cells.

No pocket clip?

Does not come with one but I'm sure you can find one that would fit. There is even a place for one.

That's too bad. Adding a clip and shipping (assuming I find one) takes it out of the too cheap NOT to try category. Without neutral option I'd never really use it anyway. Thanks for the 411

For reference . . . . .

A candle would also make about 1 lumen.

Hello Archimedes.

Thank you for your postings. Lots of valuable information.

However, I've had a EUREKA moment, and
simply MUST post a correction.

A candle produces about 12 Lumens.

Not one, as you stated above.

HERE is an explanation,
for those wanting to read more . . . .

From your link ...

They are equating one "candlepower" with 12-odd lumens

I think the confusion is between radiance and illumination

Confusing caption on the graph there ...

showing " 1 Candle = 1 Lumen "

(from same link you posted)

Thanks for clarifying. One candela will be ~ 12+ lumens. There will even be some minor definitional differences between candela and candlepower.

The German review was very interesting to read. Also the verdict was very good. Thinking of buying this one in combination with an sanyo keeppower 840 mah 14500 batt.
