"Fiat Lux" is Latin. Translated to English, "Let there be light"

Yup. It's from the old Latin translation of the Hebrew line in the book of Genesis, i.e. "and God said "let there be light," and there was light."

This is sometimes mis-translated as "and God said "let there be Italian sports cars,"" but that's just a mistake.
