So this will accept Lithium-ion (3.7V) cells, as well as lithium primaries, NiMH, and alkalines? .... If you've got a boost/buck that can take the full 1.2V - 3.7V range from any type of AAA battery then you've built one heck of a flashlight!....

I still do not believe that it has been explicitly stated that this light will run on all of the batteries you listed. Dallas said she would try some "lithium" batteries, but I did not see Li-Ion anywhere.

Sorry for being so picky, but it's an occupational hazard for an engineer.

Hi Jim,

I've missed my double ( Smile ) I have done test on Alkalines, Rechargeables, and if I get sometime a standard lithium. The reason I say yes is because the circuit it self was tested with other batteries and in combinations as well. The specs say it can take the Li-Ion, however I do not have one ( Sad - Hint Hint Christmas is coming ) to test the full prototype with.

I hope this helps clear this up. I hope to see you again soon.

OK, I got more good news

You will be happy to know that the final board test is completed and passed, and has been signed off for production.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it off to work we go! ( Smile ) YA!

Oh! and PS: Got the prototype in hand and heat testing will start first thing in the AM. This should be quick because it did very well on the model unit.

Sleep tight!

Thanks, MJ. It does indeed clear things up.

Are you going to be able to make it to the SHOT show in Feb?

Hi guys,

Ok my last good news for the week and I am done! Someone TURN OUT THAT LIGHT...( Smirk ) Anyway rather then telling you the good news I thought I would show a little light to this project. Enjoy!

http://www.peakledsolutions.net/mj.html

The three lights you see is

AAA 1 LED Ultra-Power

AAA 3 LED Ultra-Power

AAA 1w Luxeon

I don't think I need to explain how they are in order.

We need to look at one more thing to fine tune and we should be good to go.

Have a great weekend!

bigmikey: check out the beamshots in the post by MJ just 2 above yours.
It already looks brighter than an ultra power 3 led Matterhorn.
But the 3 led Matterhorn looks like it can throw further.
So I guess you need to specify whether you mean throw or flood.
In any case, I would think it's brighter than a high power for sure!

Looks like quite a nice piece. I'd love to see how the beam looks at 15 feet or so. One question; to what scale is the runtime graph on the page you linked to, MJ? It seems to decrease and increase on the same axis.

That's funny, I would love to see it on my key ring.

rgc, if you came over here and hauled off all of my beer cans every day, it would only take a month to be able to get this new flashlight. :)

Oh, wait. Carp! Why don't I just do that myself?! :buddies: :buddies:

you're pushing it really close MJ, are you considering pushing the deadline further?
