Well, I sold off half the herd, the H600d, SC65, SC64, SC53c N..

It was getting crowded at the watering hole, which has been shrinking due to global warming. Some of the funds went to finance a pair of KR1AA.

Moments later another SC53c N appeared on the horizon. It seemed hungry, so I fed it an Eneloop, and it joined the remainder of the Herd.

double spring Zebras... more durable... ?
no durability difference that I know of..
the new ones are just shorter and have High CRI LEDs

Compared to SC65, with High CRI Nichia 719a
SC62 is 4.5mm longer, and the XM-L2 LED is Low CRI

afaik, the change to single spring was intended to allow the newer SC models battery tube to be shorter (they no longer fit a protected 18650 nor 2x CR123a)

I guess I was thinking that the spring on the head end would help absorb shock of the light is dropped face down rather than battery slamming directly into electronics in the newer models.

I guess I was thinking that the spring on the head end would help absorb shock
possible for light impact.. otoh, the protruding headspring, even when fully compressed, would be more capable of denting the flat top battery positive

the latest low profile positive contact in the SC65 would support the battery so the positive contact would not get deeply dented. it has 6 little retractable contacts mounted on a flat plate that is flush with a PCB, so the entire battery would press on a flat surface.. thereby preventing denting the flat top of the battery

and fwiw, the electronics are on the opposite side of a metal shelf, so the battery is not actually pushing against the driver electronics, when the light is dropped on its head

The earlier Gray anodized SC63 and SC64 had Pogo Pins in the head, which have been discontinued, but they served a similar function of providing retractable pins protruding from a flat support surface:

The new Zebras no longer use the Pogo pins? Even the prior models they still sell?
 
What’s your favorite anodizing that Zebralight has done. I only have one currently and it’s the dark, basically black, like the middle one in this photo. I think I prefer the medium one on the right.
I also have to go with the one on the right.

It's what I see in my brain when I think Zebralight.

Current Zebralight's can vary from the dark one in the middle to the one on the right.

I bought 5 different new Zebralight during 2025, received 2 dark ones, 2 medium dark, and then I bought a McBob one and I asked him for one of the medium dark ones, and he delivered.
 
Does anybody know what the new Zebra SC70 will look like?
will it be the 700 head on the 65 body? or maybe the 65 head on the 700 body?
