Convoy flashlight opinions?

In my case, a lot less lights, full stop. Convoy's payment through PayPal makes it by far the easiest brand for me to buy, and the most affordable too.
Amen to that. I just checked my Flashlight document, and taking away all the lights I have bought through PayPal, I would have at least 34 fewer lights.
All my Convoy's, except 1. All Emisar's, everything from Sofirn and Wurkkos, all 3 FireFlies. And both of my Fenix TK75.

I would be left with a handful of Fenix's, some Coast, Streamlight and Mag-Lite lights, a couple from Acebeam and a few from Nitecore.
I would still have some 30+ lights, but not exactly the greatest hCRI contenders...

That's a good news Convoy doesn't accept payments in this holiday season. Or, I would have placed an order for T6 with 519A of all CCTs from 1800K to 5700K like this one.

Spoiler alert: extrapolating a tad from from my experience, you'd love every single one of them. The 519A is the modern replacement for the old gold standard of the XM-L2.

On various lights, I have it in 2700K, 3000K, 4000K (dedomed), 5000K and 5700K. Only one I didn't enjoy that much was the 4000K, and even then it was "alright" at worst.
Wish I could've gotten the 4500K version while it was still in stock. At least we still have the B35AM in that CCT.

Missing the 4500K though, but that seems out of stock at the moment.

I hope there aren't any production issues, as I am looking at a Noctigon M44, 519A 2700K + 4500K mix (going from "steak light" to "beef(y) light"). And Hank doesn't have the 519A 4500K available for that light either.

EDIT:
Damn, is the 519A 4500K actually out of production? Happened 2023 from what I find.

Talking about tint:

The LHP531 emitter, offered w/ some Convoy lights, in 4000k is one of the most incredible tint I'v seen.
Perfect indoor tint ,, VERY NICE😍

That, and the bigger LHP73B are the best values on the site for emitters selected

I just stumbled upon a Reddit thread regarding the Convoy 3X21E - to change the optics / beam pattern, is it really as simple as unscrewing the bezel with the glass, and replacing the 3x TIR-lenses with different ones? There is no reflector further in to consider?
Full disclosure, I have never removed a lens or reflector before.

I have been wondering about the 10° flat TIR, and whether that would change my super floody work light into a spot monster. For comparison, I know the Sofirn IF22A has a 5° TIR.

Nabbed me an S26A mostly to see if I had my upper limit for pocket EDC. I knew it would be big, and it sure is BIG, but it actually fit my hand better than any other tube light I've owned in the past. And it completely disappeared inside my pocket to sit all well-behaved alongside my wallet. Definitely more than just a meme oversized S2+.

Beam is similar to that of an S21A/B/E/G with a dedomed 519A. Relatively small focused spot, but with spill to spare. Exactly the beam pattern I like.

(Note: the SFT70 3000K in it shows absolutely no signs of positive duv. It's DEAD neutral, zero green and zero pink.)

Yes, actually. Every single non-pill Convoy works like that: unscrew the (typically steel) bezel, remove it and the lens, then swap the reflector or lens for whatever you want. They're very simply built.

Thank you very much! ❤️

That means there will be a second 3X21E, 519A 1800K 60° bead TIR, PLUS a trio of 10° flat TIR inserts, on the way to me Soon™.
Plus a L21B, 519A 1800K Smooth reflector, and potentially another 2x S21E, also 519A 1800K 45° TIR for indoor mood setting in candle mode.

Is it worth upgrading from a L21B, Osram .F1 Green to a 3X21A, 3x Getian (GT) Green?
I don't own any Getian LEDs, and I don't hear any good things about them - Osram coloured LEDs is supposedly "cleaner" in terms of nanometer. But that shouldn't matter in my case, as I just want "more green" without any specified nm.

I really like the L21B beam pattern though.

So, it seems my mother took a liking to the S21E, because she has requested 3 more of them. I had hoped she would see the light one day (literally). 😃
She has asked for another Purple body, one in Orange and something to keep on her nightstand.
Her requirements were "tailstand" (meaning side switch) and "not in black".*

Am I on the right track with this selection?
S21E, Purple body, 519A 2700K 45° TIR (kitchen)
S21E, Orange body, 519A 2700K 45° TIR (handbag)
S21E, White body, 519A 1800K 45° TIR + diffuser (nightstand)

Plus Molicel P50B's for the lot.

*Are there any women here who can chime in on that? Is design and colours really preferred over performance?
Because as a guy, that makes zero sense to me.

Sorry, can't help you on that. Never had a green LED light and don't plan to get one.

Yes they are preferred. Especially since the "worst" performance on the item at hand is more than good enough. I'd pick B35AM over 519A for the boost driver (the S21E's 3v driver is linear and not buck), but I don't think your ma will need that much optimisation.

I'd swap the P50B for the EVE 58E. A singular 519A is not a hotrod LED by any means, so capacity matters more than the CDR the Molicel provides.

Also put a 60º TIR on the 1800K nightstand one rather than 45º; with a 60º TIR any Convoy becomes more of a lantern than a flashlight already, and will provide good dispersed light even without the diffuser head.

But for the white, I need to remind you: MAO Convoys don't lock out. You have to take off the tailcap altogether to break contact, else the button will always respond no matter how unscrewed that tailcap is.

Shouldn't be an issue for a nightstand light, but still bears repeating.

I did consider the 60° TIR (already have it in both my 3X21E's, 1800K and 4000K), but I went with the 45° TIR (already have that in all the new S21E emergency lights around the house), and I find the 45° to be the perfect balance between flood and spot for exclusive indoor use.
In this case - should she want some ceiling bounce without the diffuser - I think the 60° TIR would be too floody for her liking.

And clearly I did need that MAO-reminder, thank you very much - my mother isn't very tech savvy, but I have told her to unscrew the tailcap of any light not in use at least every month. And if that - for some reason - wouldn't even work, then I too would be confused (like with my Acebeam E75).
But that makes the MAO unsuitable, and I will change it.

Reason for the P50B is to have everything the same. I like the convenience of being able to take any battery and put it in any other light, and not needing to think about the performance of the cell. 🙂

I have now lost 4 Convoy S21 at work this year. I use them every day as an asbestos surveyor. This is starting to cost me, I need to be more careful. And they keep sneaking up in price.

Has anyone tried the Convoy T7 AA 14500 flashlight?

Please pardon me for any confusion in my understanding here, but are you saying you lost 4 Convoy S21 flashlights this year, as in a little over 3 months?

...And you now want to get a smaller flashlight, that is even easier to lose?

I don't know what an asbestos surveyor does exactly (all I know about asbestos is staying the hell away from it), but may I suggest using the included wristband? Or if you need more reach (which I can understand), how about a spiral lanyard?
