DOC's assessment parallels mine.

PROS:

The light has a nice tint and output.

CONS:

-The light feels very cheap

-The rings and glare were not gone and did NOT disappear w/ the addition of the sand blasted bezel like Vinh stated in the video. On this thread he said,"reduced",,,,I do not know that because I did not see it with the stock bezel.

-Probably over priced considering what it cost[~$8]

I was not quite as brutally honest in my email to Vinh last night. Which is rare, because I usually am!

I sent mine back.

Now my secondary lights, the X2vn T,S200C2vn and TX25C2vn V3 which are ALL awesome lights will be able keep their allotted time in my rotation!

In my ~55 years I have found that It is best to be "Honest" and not to fear what others may think.

It feels cheap because at the end of a day it's a $10 light with a bit of make up on

No rings or glare on mine. ... :D ... I knew up front from Chicken Drumstick's post #47 that this was a modded $7.99 dealmetic light. I wanted a 18650 V54 flooder and that's what I got.

Most lights has substantial weight on the body but not around the light engine. This light has a solid chunk of aluminum light engine while the rest of the body is thin and light. So this light might feel and looks cheap but it actually heat sink great. The switch on it is also great. Takes extended repeated runs on high draw during torture tests no problem. The zoom operation is one of the best I have seen. For what it is I think it's a great light.

I've never been a fan of aspheric lenses, but I actually like mine, and my wife likes the one she has. It'll be a reasonable back up backpacking light, and will work well around our camp(which doesn't have electricity), for checking for deer and the occasional bear before I take the dogs out at night and I don't feel like lighting up the world with one of my bigger lights.

I just got an email from a buyer who said he feel like he "got screwed" by buying this light. Didn't say why. But regardless no one should feel this way by buying this light or any light from me. If you don't like what you get simply send it back for a full refund. I never hassle. Plain and simple. I am not in the business of screwing people.

That's exactly why we keep buying off you.

+1. I've only had occasion to return a light once, and I was refunded immediately. One thing I have never questioned is your willingness to make it right. And frankly, you have been gracious about any (hopefully) constructive criticism I have offered.

If you really want to know, I can PM you. But I'm not sure what the point would be...you aren't going to change my mind, and if you are enjoying the light, why worry about what someone else thinks?

Lightweight would be a plus for me.

Maybe I'll grab one of these used or during the next sale :)

The last zoomie I had was a smallsun that I jammed a XRE p60 module in but was too hard to focus.
It was too heavy n clunky & wouldn't stay set in position.

I'll possibly pick one up when I order an XHP70 p60 module if/when they happen!!

Is the xml2 dedomed zoomed out beam the same size as xpg2 dedome? Also how much faster does the xml2 get hot vs the xpg?

XML2 is abtou twice as large. Beamn shots shows this. Both version are not too hot relatively to their size.

Just a quickie off the cuff review. I dont have a photo sharing account so no beam shots, sorry.

Overall, I like this light. The size, beam quality, flood width, brightness, and driverVN are all nice for an $88 light. I was needing a flooder that could also throw some and that's exactly what I got. Upon receiving the light I found the tint is a bit cool for my taste ( I usually prefer around 5000k so i went against Vinh'sadvice and ordered 5000k dome on) I was also hoping for more throw, even though it throws as well as my stock tk35 (I know, never happy lol). Vinh informed me after i got the light that aspherical lenses tend to make tints cooler so I guess I should have ordered the u3 dedome like he recommended. I got to thinking about that and realized that's probably the best option as you'll get more throw and not give up any flood. DOH! I'm definitely going to send it back to Vinh for the u3 dedome.

The switch is a little squeaky but functions perfectly.

Heat transfer path seems really good for an aspheric as it heats up quickly on turbo. Maybe not as qickly as my ZL H600II. I'm not a turbofreak with these small lights so it's not a big deal to me that I only get a few minutes on turbo. If I need that much light for a long period I'll go grab a light that's better suited for that like my k50vn or k40mvn.

Edit: I'll probably do a turbo runtime temperature test tomorrow if I remember.

I do notice the ceiling bounce lux reading drops from 126 to 60 when you go from flood to spot respectively, and I suspect that has to with the photons getting wasted on the black wall of the inside of the lens chamber before they get to the lens. I'm gonna guess most aspherical lights are like that unless the inside is mirror polished so the photons don't get absorbed and eventually bounce their way out. I might try this as an experiment as I do have polishing equipment.

For comparison, my ZL H600 mkII pulls 120 lux in the same ceiling bounce scenario so I'm guessing zrayVN is running about 1100 lumens OTF on turbo in full flood.

The clip is nice and stays put very well if you have it in the clip groove near the head. This is the way I prefer to carry this light anyway so it works out good for me. (I carry it in my back pocket lens up so the head of the light sticks out)

Did I mention I like the driverVN? Everybody has their own preferences but I found a couple mode groups I really dig.

I might add more to this post as I think of stuff.

^^thanks for the first impressions

Don't polish the inside- you will end up with tons of beam artifacts - ie. Disco Ball.
