M61 is 450 lm, M61 219 v3 is 330 lm. Not much discernible difference to the naked eye.

120 lumens is quite a bit at this range of output. If one light is 1000 and one is 880 you would be hard pressed to see a difference but at the lower level of out put its much more noticeable

Lumens at what cost? I think runtime and Lumen tests should be combined with heat output at the head. Those graphs would suggest the ideal combination of useful L output to heat degradation (of the battery) and point to the ideal L values in a light.

My feeling is that the 400-500 L output range is the most useful and fuel efficient across all brands because the LEDs themselves, whatever the type are all most efficient at that level. The M61 is a working example of this effect.

Lumens at what cost?

My experience with multiple M61 variants has been that they all draw roughly the same current and share a similar run time. They also produce more or less the same amount of heat. Any measurable differences would be subtle. If you pay a lumens penalty, you're buying a different beam tint and/or a higher CRI. I mentioned the 219b version of the M61 because it has 93 CRI and you expressed interest in an M61 with better color rendition.

Not sure what it is but whenever MF response to a post it always feels like he's scolding you like my teachers used to 😂😂😂. You know he explains in a way a child can understand and is extremely clear and polite but you feel like you just been put in your place or something.lmao😂😂😂. "All said in fun my friend your knowledge is very much appreciated here"

That's funny, TG. I think of myself as the random ******* of the flashlight community. Many experts hang out here and I am not one of them!

Regardless, MF, I agree with you and yes, I favor more CRI.

Not like the gorgeous Wildcat V6 that produces a beautiful light quality on high (and LO) but if left on continuously, feels like a soldering iron in your hand.

The M61HOT, however runs very hot and is in no way comparable to the M61 in both runtimes or heat output. The apparent L, however is very similar. So there is variation in the line.

Saw the HD posts in the Front Porch thread, figured I'd post here... :D Finally got another HD 18650 Neutral to replace one lost a year and a half ago. I really missed having one, and am super happy to be able to reach for one to walk pups with again. A truly great combo of output, size, simplicity, beam quality and Malkoff toughness. Low seems brighter than published spec, which is fine. Knurling is crisp. Reflector is a thing of beauty. Good to have one back.

Yes, we were discussing comparing Neutral HD 18650 with Cool HD 18650...both are fantastic lights. If I were to loose my Neutral...well first off, I'd hate the guts of the undeserving lout who found it, then I'd get another one ASAP! Glad you got one back!

Bummer about the original going missing, but glad you were able to add another HD Neutral to the "pack" again! :)

Thanks! Between the HD and my L3N in a bored C2, it's a fun time to be outside at night again. Both 18650 powered, one for reach and the other for everything inside of 75 yards. Bases covered. Tailcaps and batteries swap if needed. Redundancy is a beautiful thing.

Does anyone use their 18650 HD with a holster/pouch? I remember someone posting a few years back about a specific one that works well.

I believe it was this one from Blackhawk that NH Lumens posted about -- link here. Been thinking about trying one out, but haven't done so yet.

Not sure if it's the same one, but I've been using the five inch flashlight holster from Maxpedition for several years. Mine has held up quite well.

Dropped it 5' onto a tile floor. Small piece of the tip snapped. I reproduced it on a stone.

Love this knife.

Pkg is knife and pocket sheath, trainer and keeper sheath.

Plus a belt sheath is available.

Super versatile.
