My light arrived, will play around with it at some point. I turned it on for a few seconds....it lights up some particles behind the lens. I'll have to try and get it cleaned, cause that might drive me crazy.

Kind of wish we had some scorpions or lizards around the house:shrug:

I could send some scorpions if you like...

Not sure they will like the colder climate. The wife probably won't want them playing with the kids either.
Will scorpions still flourece (possible typo) if they are dead? Dead scorpions would possibly be ok

Yes, they still fluoresce when dead. The dead ones just don't last long in my yard... the lizards get them.

I've never seen scorpions in southwest Virginia but there are a few species in Northeast Tennessee. See them in some of the cabins in Gatlinburg area. Would be cool to have one of these if somebody frequently traveled to the smoky mountains.

I used to get to the great smokies quite often, but it's hard to find the time to hang out. I'm usually on a mission driving my semi

But i haven't been there in a good year, been hanging out in the Rockies mostly

Is it the same UV Emitter or a different one? Maybe an Emitter with higher output power a smaller 365nm peak would be interesting.

Btw. How much UV lighs were made and how long dies it take to sell them? I would guess a 2nd run would sell a little bit more slowly than the first run...

---- edit ----
Maybe a HDS with an amber LED would be an idea. Amber is perfect in foggy / steamy environmemt. I really mean amber like the Surefire Aviator Amber has. I would buy an amber HDS.

Amber led version would be nice. Was looking at the Aviator, but read to many issues with flickering..

An emitter such as this would have to be available and fit the HDS footprint.
These would be the same as the first run unless an emitter as you describe actually exists.

We are going to a small run just like the first. Everything the same including woods lens.
Will take 6-8 weeks.
I will, of course, post here and other places in the dark web (light web actually) when they are ready and on the custom page.

Do you guys use any special glasses with these lights? Just wondering if I get one, do I have to carry a pair of UV glasses around.

I am wearing glasses at all, since I am old, my eyes are weak.... I am not a klingon at all
Since I have glasses for eye sight correction the optical glass blocks >99.9% of UV radiation. Also a good branded pair of sunglasses should do this.

UV safety is a complex topic, and I'm not sure how much of that Hogo wants addressed here is this thread.

Please be aware, though, that OD3 (blocking 99.9% of particular wavelengths) would be considered relatively weak protection from a filtered close-range moderate-power UV source :caution:

Also most eyeglasses (and to a lesser extent, some sunglasses) of typical / popular / stylish design, may have a relatively "leaky" fit, in terms of blocking radiation to the eyes.

I don't mind if folks want to discuss UV safety... I'm just not the guy to do it.
I grew up eating dirt, riding a bicycle without a helmet, smoking, chewing, riding in the back of pickup trucks... rode motorcycles without a helmet... wore my ballistic vest about 5% of the time at work...
Nope. I'm not one to talk about safety regarding anything... and I have the scars and metal implants to prove it.
