Thought about you guys when I saw the following news feed.

+Relatively low bore axis, high grip, lower center of gravity, shorter moment of inertia...beautiful and practical design. I'm ASSUMING that the Desert Eagle took a few leaves out of the 92 design book to mitigate recoil.
It's not like they don't go together.I like guns even more then flashlights they make the world safer make the world better
Just terribly poor tactics by the agents. Many of whom took out their main sidearms, and placed them on the seat next to them, in anticipation of the car stop. The car stop was made, their primary weapons went flying off after the cars crashed into the suspects' vehicle. Forcing them to rely on their less capable back-up pistols. One of the two agents who lost his Life that day was the FBI's best shooter. Practiced continuously for years, for this type of encounter. He was rendered blind and useless when his prescription glasses flew off his face. No, he didn't carry a spare set of glasses. No, his one pair had no retention strap on them.I recal that miami shoot out vagelyi lived down there back then

+We've all run into people who have impacted our lives.
Art Viani is one of those people for me. On the topic of handgun "stopping power," Viani spent eight years working for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. His experiences caused him to start up Ghost Inc. (ghostinc.com). It initially sold improved connectors for Glock pistols. He saw a handgun shooting victim nearly every shift. He told me, "The only'one-shot stops' I ever saw were suicides and executions.
People are hydraulic machines. [They leak] out." He figured improved trigger pulls were the best way to shoot faster and more accurately. I wholeheartedly agree. - James Tarr July 2025 Guns & Ammo
That was the point I was offering.
In my experience there's a definite benefit in muzzle rise with a compensated barrel port due to upward vented gas and compensator weight. The greater the velocity the more the benefit.Been thinking about ports on pistols, something's starting to come to mind.
could this effect rotation of bullet/velocity??
Really not the same as muzzle break on rifles
It there's no rifling from comp. to end of barrel including a possible point of drag at comp.
it's hard not to ask questions on compensator port benefits.
I usually don't walk back things, this may be one of them
1170 fps out of a .45 ACP?! WOW! That was one hot load! What powder were you using? Any signs of overpressure? How many times could you reload the brass? In my experience there's a definite benefit in muzzle rise with a compensated barrel port due to upward vented gas and compensator weight. The greater the velocity the more the benefit.
Back in '90, I handloaded my .45 "Pin Gun" with 153 gr. SWC at 1170 fps. for IPSC Bowling Pin events.

That was a loooong time ago but my old log says, 6.9 grs. Bullseye. No pressure issues & mild recoil with the comp. Probably only used 1x fired cases for this loads.1170 fps out of a .45 ACP?! WOW!
