There are some real good deals out there on older used guns. For example old single stack S&W Shields are stupid cheap right now because most people want the newer higher capacit0y Shield Plus.
Surefire made the the original adapter in the MR09. This one was made based off of that but also improved on the concept as well. If you’re an HK enthusiast like me then you’ll appreciate background behind the redesign. Man, I've come to the conclusion that open carry is way less about being armed for protection and way more about making some kind of statement. What kind of statement? Well, who knows? Kinda like the perpetually masked folks you see running around four years post Covid.
I know with what I see a lot of folks carrying in what passes for a holster, coupled with their total lack of situational awareness, it's basically a free gun for any who care to avail themselves of it...

I have to thank you again as I had never seen that H&K forum however I like it very much. It has been a while since I gave my old USPs some attention and there is all kinds of neat stuff on that site. When I carried mine it was rare to see any other officers with one. I believe that was due to the price back then however for me I chose to pay up for a proven reliable weapon. It proved to be an excellent choice as my service log proves that. There certainly is lots of love on that forum for the old USP and I have a list of items planned to breath a little new life into mine. Thanks again

I remember dealing with a bunch of total idiots years back while at Birmingham Police Dept. Open carry is allowed in the state and there was a time that a few protesters had this thing where they would meet up outside Starbucks and would all be heavily and openly armed. They were trying to provoke a reaction from police and each time we were called to the scene we got the whole "I know my rights" and "it is not illegal for me to open carry". They wanted the police to react so they could claim a lawsuit.
I remember talking with this idiot who had an AR slung across his back and two holstered pistols. I did not question his right to carry however began asking him questions about his weapons of choice. He knew absolutely nothing about any of the weapons he coveted so greatly. He had no idea if they were single or double action, no idea as to the trigger pull, twist of the barrel, gas piston, you know just zero actual knowledge. He just loaded up on a bunch of guns and went out in public because he could.
I also remember asking him if he was so afraid to go outside without all that firepower openly in view perhaps he should just stay inside and never venture out in the scary real world. It was literally a bunch of idiots that would honestly be useless in a real life defensive situation. I would bet that most did not even know how to operate their weapons and most surely did not know how to clear any malfunction in a firefight. It is idiots like this that give legitimate gun owners a bad name.

It is a very good forum. I would, however, just read up on the community rules as they have had to run a tight ship over there due to scammers. I believe there is a post minimum and minimum number of days as a member to access the Marketplace there along with no sand-bagging posts just to fulfill the minimum post count. I've read your posts on here and have no concern as I believe that you would utilize the forum much in the same way the majority of the members on there and here do. I personally CCW a USP Compact .45 v7 DAO and also serves as my bedside weapon. Using that forum I was able to teach myself to service my weapon outside of the standard field strip. It is a wealth of knowledge for any avid HK owner/operator. Also, not saying you would sand-bag, just an interesting bit of info regarding how tight the administration is on that forum.
You'd bet correct. I actually remember purchasing my first handgun back in 2020 during COVID. Prior to that, I was somewhat intimidated by firearms in general but it was only because I was uneducated. Once I took a CCW class, studied on different actions and features on a pistol (no AR yet as I'm a lefty and still figuring out best style (gas piston or DI)) along with the types of malfunctions you can experience, and understanding the laws around self-defense/duty to retreat.. I was no longer intimitated, but empowered and enlightened. Since Ohio recently switched to Constitution Carry, anyone I know that is curious I always advise them to take a CCW course and get their CCW license so hopefully the education can trickle down to the idiots you mentioned that give gun owners a bad name (hate those guys).

Giving gun owners a bad name is what concerns me most of all with these open carry clowns. Moms don't need to see these guys every time they take their kids shopping.

My state offers free a training class (which is pretty good for a 1 day class) and basic live fire qualification as part of the requirements (again everything paid for by the state except for ammo). Great for someone who is new to firearms and/or concealed carry.

They do not come to do WC by themselves, someone calls them, do you know who? ask them next time, cuz those who call may have sinister purposes, maybe they hope you expire, or get shot by cops as it happens during WC, so they can take over your property, watch out for the nicest neighbors, those who say they are concerned about you....

vertx. I do not remember the site i got it from, I had to modify it, cuz the way it comes it is not that good, I've sewn one side of velcro on one internal side , and another to actual holster with flat plastic panel. that soft pocket it comes with is pretty useless, it does not hold the peice properly. nor it provides sufficient trigger cover.

I think most self-defense situations end with no rounds being discharged. However, a large number of such occurrences go unreported.
