I'm not too worried about it. I can tell it's brighter than the 325 lumen E2 head, and the tint is quite nice for 6200K, so it's a keeper.
etc also confirmed that his new version doesn't have the little dot below the engraving.
My new M61 that I received Saturday does not have the little nick below the engraving. I can see the difference in brightness compared to my 325 lumen E2 head and I think the tint is a bit nicer on the M61.
Looked again and still don't see a dot on my new M61. Even pulled out a magnifying glass. I wonder if maybe it was just transition thing or if Gene just forgot to do it on mine.
Received the new M61 yesterday and I'm liking it a lot! Difference in brightness is noticeable compared to my E2 head, and the tint seems less cool, which is nice.
I know some guys mentioned there being a small dot below the "m61" engraving on the 425 lumen drop in, but mine doesnt have one...
I figured the E2 head wouldnt really be much different, so not a deal breaker for me. I just wanted the drop in for a 6P I have laying around.
Appreciate you taking the beamshots though. The ones you posted are very useful.
Jose, you just cost me money...
Pulled the trigger on the new M61. Looking forward to seeing how it compares to the 325 lumens of the E2 head, in person.
Thanks. They all worked well for my needs and I didn't find myself wishing I had brought more lights.
Yeah, just stayed in Michigan. Rented a house up in Charlevoix.
Don't look past an E2 head on a 16650 body. That's what I use as my "tactical" light.
Brought this trio with me on my recent trip.
MDC 1AA Nichia, MDC 16650 neutral and an MD2 M61NL in 22.3 head with H/L ring.

That's pretty much what I did last year, but I'm trying to take the "minimalist" approach this year. I know I'll be bringing my neutral MDC 16650 and my MDC Nichia 1AA. Might throw in my M61NL MD2 with a high/low ring and call it good.
