RE: 959
Right behind me is an original David Kimble cutaway drawing of a 959.
Saw it in the back of my Dads issue of Autoweek in about '86,, ordered it up right away and framed it myself.
..still have it after all these years

That's cool. IMO, the 959 was on the cutting edge of designs. If my last name was $$$$$$. I'd have one sitting next to my bike! If it really was $$$$$? I'd have a Ferrari Dino 246 GTS parked next to it as well.

The 959 was awesome but its' legacy is the TPMS system (Tire Pressure Monitoring System).

I actually still have this Nov. '87 issue of Automobile and of an issue Autoweek with Al Holbert sitting on the hood of a 959, some people went nuts 'bout that.

I'v seen Al Holbert race a Porsche 962 (GTP), soo smooth a driver.

Was doing a bit of looking and my torque guesstimate is likely too low on post #3451
From what I'v read, it could be around 531 lb.-ft.

That would make the number closer to 1100 combined torque & hp
..from a smaller & lighter engine.

Hudson flathead straight 6, 308 cubic inch. Dominated NASCAR from its founding through 1954.

@orbital what the hell is that?! All I recognize is an alternator. :yellowlaugh:

Twin Turbo w/ Lots of intercooling
cooling the turbos themselves, air from turbos into engine and just about anything else you can think of.
.. just 183 cubic inches displacement

the straight 6 in my Jeep was so basic, it's almost funny compared to that.
> that was a 4 Liter
